The Jewish Education Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the program We Are Here! Teaching the Holocaust to Jewish Families, including planning and executing the program. S/He will expand upon the work already in place for religious schools and develop a new initiative that will expand the program to Jewish day schools. These programs will support the educational philosophy of the Weinberg Center and take advantage of the Breman museum setting.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree preferred, or Bachelor’s degree, plus the successful completion of at least one of the following: o Breman Museum Summer Institute on Teaching the Holocaust o Jewish Foundation for the Righteous: Summer Institute o Yad Vashem Summer International Seminar o USHMM Teacher Training o Workshops and trainings by other Holocaust organizations • Teaching experience, grades K-12, preferably in a Jewish setting • Exceptional knowledge of educational methodologies and technologies • Excellent organizational skills and programming experience • Excellent communications and public speaking skills • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite • Creative, team-oriented, collaborative, customer-focused personality • Ability to form and nurture relationships and create networks with volunteers, staff, and educators from a range of educational, public and private institutions • Familiarity with educational and teacher organizations, especially Jewish and Holocaust organizations PRIMARY DUTIES: 1
Promote and develop The Weinberg Center’s program We Are Here! Holocaust Education for Jewish Families.
The Jewish Education Coordinator serves as the PROJECT MANAGER of the program, including: • Promoting the program to Jewish congregational schools and Jewish day schools for potential partnerships • Developing educational materials of exceptional quality to enhance and support the program; maintaining and reviewing these materials • Ensuring that the curriculum addresses the National Core Curriculum and Jewish Educational Standards, and is smoothly integrated into existing school curriculums. • Coordinating all aspects in the development of displays for the program • Maintaining the budget for the program and drafting a contract for partners • Working with the Marketing and Communications Director to promote the program • Training and coordinating docent faculty as well as identifying new docents as faculty • Leading classes with the assistance of docent faculty • Identifying and developing new resources and classes for Jewish institutions • Providing outreach, collaboration and support to Jewish schools and educators • Staying current on curriculum innovations and innovations in museum education • Developing appropriate assessment tools to evaluate the impact of the program • Assisting the development team with seeking program sponsorships ADDITIONAL DUTIES • Being a team member of the Weinberg Center and supporting its staff and programs • Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Weinberg Center DESCRIPTION OF THE WEINBERG CENTER The Weinberg Center for Holocaust Education is the foremost Holocaust education resource center in the State of Georgia. We provide Holocaust education opportunities and materials to teachers, students and the general public through tours of our Holocaust exhibition, programs, courses and collaborations.
