The Engineering Management Division (EMD) and Engineering Leadership Division (LEAD) of ASEE are pleased to invite all members to submit abstracts for papers and proposals for a joint session, and ideas for panel discussions or other innovation session formats for the 2015 ASEE Conference, June 14-17, 2015 in Seattle Washington. EMD and LEAD are looking to broaden the awareness of the role that both leadership and management training plays in a wide number of existing or proposed areas in all areas of engineering education and to learn more about how these topics are being incorporated into existing courses and curriculum. Because the topics of leadership and management are frequently paired, the objective of this joint session is to explore the boundaries and overlap between these two areas of study and how they are blended and contrasted. Topics dealing with the definition of leadership, the differences between leadership and management, knowledge/skills/attitudes identified as key learning objectives, how subject matter is presented, assessment of leadership, in particularly as it applied to project based courses, partnerships with corporate or other types of leadership training and, broadly, how leadership is being blended and introduced into the larger engineering and engineering management curricula at all levels from K-12, undergraduate and graduate level, are welcome The objectives of this joint session is to open up a window on how leadership and management topics are blended into broader courses in engineering and contribute to a holistic discussion on the role of leadership training in the big picture. All paper submissions are publish-to-present. Submissions may include research reports, classroom applications, exploratory topics and works in progress. Abstracts should be between 300-500 words in length and provide a statement of the work's objective, its relevance to engineering leadership and engineering management per the objectives of the session, results, recommendations and implications. All abstracts, draft papers, and final papers, if accepted, will be handled electronically through the ASEE website via Monolith. Submissions must be completed electronically, and due dates and times indicated on the ASEE website must be met.
