THE GIRL FROM MUNICH A story of loss, betrayal, duty and love during the tumultuous years of World War Two and post-war occupied Germany. The Girl from Munich is an historical fiction novel by debut Australian author Tania Blanchard. It is a coming of age story of Lotte, a young German woman living in Hitler’s Germany during the war years and into the occupied post-war period. The novel is based on the life of the Tania’s grandmother. Growing up, Tania was fascinated by her grandmother’s life during the war. When her grandmother passed away, Tania discovered documents, letters and photos of her life in Germany, uncovering secrets she had kept from her family. Together with the richness of a life lived in Hitler’s era, Tania knew this story had to be told and the result is The Girl from Munich.
