In short
The Learning Commons is a newly developed concept for students – ‘a pilot project’ as project manager Bjarne Lind Christensen calls is. The idea with the Learning Commons is for the students to drop by to either be assisted by other students or to sign up for courses and events that are held at the library.
The Learning Commons is located on the library’s 1st floor at SDU.
Courses and events There are numerous courses that can strengthen the students in writing assignments, placing commas correctly, sitting for an examination and so much more. The courses and events have turned out to be a big success. Students have already benefitted from courses on punctuation and writing assignments. Bjarne says that the students have found them very useful and that evidently there has been a need and a demand for these courses. You can find available courses here. Student2student Student2student is an offer for students. They can either drop by the library to get assistance or receive assistance via e-mail. Student counsellor Simon Jensen says that the Student2student service consists of positively meeting the students and listening to their questions and potential challenges. It can be about anything from doing an efficient literature search to writing a suitable thesis statement. Bjarne Lind Christensen experiences that the students see it as a safe place to get counselling because it is not being supervised or reviewed by a teacher. A success As mentioned earlier the Learning Commons is a new project, which is why it is necessary to find out whether there is a need for the different courses and what they should feature. Even though, according to Bjarne Lind Christensen, the students have not been queuing up in front of the Learning Commons they have however made great use of the different offers.
