The National HPV Vaccination Roundtable HPV vaccination is cancer prevention. Who are we?

HPV VACCINATION RECOMMENDATION from the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices: Effective Oct. 2016

Boys and girls should receive 2 doses of HPV vaccine at ages 11-12. 

We are a coalition of over 70 public, private, and voluntary organizations and experts dedicated to reducing incidence of and mortality from HPVassociated cancers in the United States. Our members include partners from diverse sectors including immunization, public health, academia, professional societies, industry, cancer prevention, and state and federal agencies among others. The HPV Vaccination Roundtable, managed by the American Cancer Society, launched in 2014 and in August 2016 received a five-year cooperative agreement from the CDC. What are our target long-term outcomes? Collectively, through our member organizations, we seek to:    

Increase use of evidence-based strategies to increase HPV vaccination Increase use of tools that facilitate effective provider recommendations for HPV vaccination with a focus on girls and boys ages 11-12 Decrease missed opportunities for administration of HPV vaccine Contribute to increased HPV vaccination rates over time at national and state levels, including rates of series completion by age 13 Contribute to decreasing the gap between female and male HPV vaccination rates

The doses should be provided at 0 and 6-12 months apart. Two dose vaccination may be initiated as young as age 9, and through age 14.

How do we organize our work?

If the series is initiated at age 15 and older, 3 doses should be provided.

The National HPV Vaccination Roundtable develops and implements projects focused on overcoming barriers to HPV vaccination by focusing on five priority areas: providers, parents, systems, policies, and health disparities. We accomplish this through six task groups, and under the leadership of our Steering Committee. Current groups include:

Immunocompromised persons should receive three doses.
