Mark 9:2-10

P

eter, James, and John witness Jesus' transfiguration. But they themselves also undergo a transfiguration. Some change occurs within them so they are able to hear God's voice announcing Jesus' identity (''beloved Son") and the clear terms of their own discipleship ("listen to him"). Lent is meant to be our time of transfiguration. What change needs to occur in us so that we grasp the clear terms of our own discipleship? What change needs to occur in us so that we truly listen?

St. Anthony Parish Prayer for the Week Almighty and most Merciful God, your presence and power within us to enable us to walk in newness of life. We confess the Spirit to have been imparted in baptism, but we pray daily to be refreshed in the Holy Spirit, even as Paul directed: “Keep being filled with the Spirit” (Eph 5:18), keep being immersed anew in the Spirit so as to be able to want what pleases God; to be empowered for the new life; to have God’s intimate companionship for the journey; to experience the internal guidance of the Spirit and to walk in the way of righteousness. Amen.

For those on our Prayer List: Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need. May these special people find lasting health and deliverance. We ask this through the Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.
