2-4pm: WSI Re-cert classroom session.

14th

8-11am: WSI Re-Cert pool session, Canada Games Centre.

The Recreation and Parks Association (RPAY) is pleased to be hosting the annual Spring Aquatics Workshop in Whitehorse, May 13-17th. RPAY is excited to be offering a WSI re-cert and the Yukon Pool School at the workshop. Many other practical, hands-on sessions and team-building opportunities will be offered to provide rural Yukon pool staff with all the skills and tools needed to have a safe and successful aquatics season. Registration deadline is May 1, 2018.

1130am: Workshop welcome lunch in the Sport Yukon Boardroom. Afternoon session will include a History of Yukon Aquatics, Trans and Gender Variant Inclusion and an introduction to Yukon First Nations History. A group dinner and outing will follow. 15th

9am-5pm: Yukon Pool School. Day will include lunch, dinner and an evening outing.

16th

9am: WHMIS, Fit Testing and Environmental Health sessions. 130pm: Lone Guard scenarios pool session, Canada Games Centre. Followed by rural community pool visit.

17th

9am-1230: Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness and Strategies and Risk Management sessions.

* All sessions will be held at the Sport Yukon Boardroom unless stated.

The Yukon Pool School

Accommodations Shared hotel rooms are provided Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Coast High Country Inn. (WSI recert participants will have rooms provided Sunday night.) All classroom sessions Sunday through Wednesday are being held at the Sport Yukon Boardroom, conveniently located next door to the hotel. A light mid-morning snack, lunch and dinner will be provided Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The 2018 Spring Aquatics Workshop is the third offering of the Yukon Pool School course. The program integrates current Pool Operator materials and training and includes a northern supplement that was created specifically for Yukon rural pool operators. The course is delivered by aquatics guru Sean Healy of the Vancouver Board of Parks and Recreation and upon completion, will result in a BCRPA Pool Operators 1 certificate. Thanks to the generosity of the Yukon Government Sport and Recreation Branch, this year’s workshop and certifications are being offered free of charge.
