Showcasing Your Research: Research Repository UCD

Increasing Your Research Impact: Using Bibliometrics and Citation Analysis UCD Library is offering expertise and support for researchers in measuring and tracking their research impact. For example, how to:

UCD Library Services for Researchers

• Understand and calculate the h-index, which is one way of measuring a researcher’s impact • Generate citation counts for research publications • Calculate impact factors for the most influential journals in a subject area • Incorporate impact metrics into applications for promotions or grant funding • Use specific tools such as Web of Science, Google Scholar Citations and Scopus

UCD Library provides workshops, presentations and individual consultations on a range of specialist research services. Some of these are outlined in this leaflet. The Research Repository UCD (formerly UCD’s Institutional Repository) is now integrated with UCD’s Research Management System (RMS), thereby streamlining the process of updating author profiles in the RMS to include uploading documents directly to the Research Repository. UCD Library can provide information and support on how to upload documents to the Repository via the RMS; advice on copyright; and information about the statistics that are available to researchers for individual articles and papers. Managing Your Research Data Planning for your data management needs will help save you time and resources. UCD Library, in conjunction with other UCD units, has drawn up a checklist to guide you in your on-going data management activities. The checklist includes the relevant UCD policies and other information: www.ucd.ie/t4cms/Guide121.pdf

UCD Digital Library The UCD Digital Library is a platform for exploring cultural heritage collections, engaging with digital scholarship, and accessing research data. You can search, browse and explore a growing collection of historical materials, photographs, art, interviews, letters, and other exciting content, that has been digitised and made freely available. The UCD Digital Library will continue its programme of attracting new cultural heritage collections. If you are interested, as a UCD School or Research Centre, in partnering with UCD Digital Library to create, develop and make available resources and collections to support your teaching and research, please contact us.

GIS and Maps Services UCD Library is developing a Geographic Information System (GIS) portal which will provide a single point of access for information for UCD staff and students on GIS datasets, services, courses, events, tutorials, facilities, etc. Using GIS, data which includes geographic or location information can be displayed on a map. The UCD Library maps service operates from Richview Library. Mapping available includes: 1:1000, 1:2500 and 1:5000 OSi maps; 1st edition 6” maps and early 20th century 25” maps; free vector mapping for parts of Dublin city centre and Belfield.
