Average Daily Membership (ADM) Average Daily Membership (ADM) is derived from the attendance records of each District within New Hampshire. The data is usually published in March for the previous academic year. Membership is the half day attendance added together and then divided by the number of half days in the year’s instructional program, usually 360, to determine average daily membership. A half day attendance is when a student is present for a half day under the guidance and direction of a teacher. An excused absence because of sickness or for any other reason is not counted. The calculation of ADM is a critical function because it is utilized in the formula for New Hampshire’s state adequacy aid distribution. ADM is also used at Timberlane to compute the percentage of the total Timberlane operating budget each town is responsible for. More information regarding this can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://www.education.nh.gov/data/attendance.htm More information about how the co-operative school district of Timberlane utilizes ADM can be found in the Timberlane Articles of Agreement. 5000

School Funding The cost per pupil at Timberlane for the 2014-2015 school year was $14,867.45. The current state school funding formula allots $3,561.27 per pupil to each town within the district based on Average Daily Membership (ADM). The gap of $11,306 per student, minus federal dollars, then falls to the property owner in the form of property tax. The method by which each respective town pays for their portion of the Timberlane budget is defined in the Timberlane Articles of Agreement. Every dollar within the overall budget is defined as being part of either the operating or capital budget. Each town then pays an amount of the operating budget proportional to their portion of the overall ADM and each town also pays an amount of the capital budget proportional to their portion of the overall Equalized Property Value (EPV). More information regarding this can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://www.education.nh.gov/data/financial.htm More information about how the co-operative school district of Timberlane funds our schools can be found in the Timberlane Articles of Agreement.

Drop Out Rate In 2007 the New Hampshire state legislature increased the drop out eligibility age to 18. Over the last couple of years Timberlane has developed several paths for students toward obtaining a high school diploma. Through our evening division, credit recovery program and a concerted effort by our high school administrators, teachers and staff we have continuously improved the drop out rate at Timberlane High School. Average Teacher Salary The average teacher salary for Timberlane has increased an average of 1.61% per year in the previous nine school years. Many factors are involved in calculating this average including but not limited to attrition, hiring practices and, zero cost of living adjustment for five years. The 2013 – 2016 Timberlane Teacher’s Association (TTA) contract was just approved by the voters of Timberlane. The School Board and TTA, taking into account the state of the economy and our local property tax situation, engaged in lengthy negotiations that resulted in this fair contract. We feel it is respectful of the tax payers and teachers alike and continues to provide a competitive offering in an effort to attract and retain excellent teachers here at Timberlane. More information regarding teacher’s salaries can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://www.education.nh.gov/data/staffing.htm

Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC) About the Common Core State Standards From the NH DOE website: http://education.nh.gov/spotlight/ccss/ The Common Core State Standards (CCSS) Initiative is a state led effort that included math, reading, and curriculum specialists, in partnership with the National Governors Association and the Council of Chief State School Officers. The purpose was to establish a single set of clear educational expectations for English language arts/literacy and mathematics that states can share and voluntarily adopt. New Hampshire has embedded the standards from this initiative into our College and Career Ready Standards. The State Board of Education adopted the new standards for English language arts/literacy and mathematics at their July 8, 2010 meeting, committing to a thoughtful, orderly transition process for implementation and assessment to ensure that all New Hampshire students experience a successful and productive future. The CCSS are not a national or state curriculum nor are they federally mandated. Standards do not tell teachers how to teach, but provide a kindergarten through 12th grade roadmap for what students should know and be able to demonstrate. It remains up to each local school district to design curriculum to help their students successfully achieve the standards. The CCSS are evidenced based, aligned with college and work expectations, and are informed by the highest standards across the country and globe. These standards were designed by a diverse group of educators, business leaders, and advocacy and policy stakeholders and have garnered support from state and national parent organizations.
From the SBAC website: http://www.smarterbalanced.org/parents/ With new state standards, students are working harder, thinking more critically, and applying their learning to the real world. To measure these new standards, educators from states using Smarter tests have worked together to develop new, high-quality tests in English and math for grades 3–8 and high school.
Following are the Timberlane results for the first testing year utilizing SBAC, 2014/2015. results can be found here:

New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), a reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), required states to create assessments in basic skills. In New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont the New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) is utilized for this purpose. Up until 2014, every year in the month of October grades 3-8 and 11 take this assessment, the NECAP, in both Math and Reading. Since 2014 the NECAP exam for Math and Reading has been replaced by the Smarter Balanced Assessment. Writing also used to be administered in grades 5, 8 and 11.
Currently, every year in the month of May grades 4,8 and 11 take this assessment, the NECAP, in Science. All NECAP test results in this Report Card are from the “Teaching Year” data set. What this means is that only the students who were instructed the year before in a Timberlane school are compiled into these results. Students taking the test at Timberlane who were not enrolled at a Timberlane school the prior year are excluded. This allows us to focus only on Timberlane instruction from the prior year.
More information regarding the New England Common Assessment can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://www.education.nh.gov/instruction/assessment/necap/index.htm

Advanced Placement Exams The Advanced Placement (AP) Exams are administered by the College Board in the spring of each year. Scores on the exam range between 1 and 5. A student who scores a 3, 4 or 5 may be granted placement, credit and/or exemption from specific courses by the college or university they attend. Every AP course offered at high schools across the country are identical and they are designed by the College Board. The AP exam for each respective AP course is now required of all students taking an AP course at Timberlane. More information regarding Advanced Placement Exams and courses can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/apc/Controller.jpf

Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is still the gold standard used for college applications and admittance. The state data provided here is only from public schools. Exclusion of the private school data was done in order to obtain an “apples to apples” look at how Timberlane compares to the other school districts throughout New Hampshire. More information regarding the Scholastic Aptitude Test can be found on the New Hampshire Department of Education website at the following address: http://www.collegeboard.org/
