OVERVIEW The National Organising Committee (NOC) for the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015™ is looking to fill the contract position of Venue Communications Coordinator. Recognised as the most important international competition in women’s soccer, the FIFA Women’s World Cup™ is the largest women’s sporting event in the world. In 2011, the Canadian Soccer Association was awarded the right to stage the 2015 edition of this prestigious competition, as well as the rights to host the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Canada 2014. As an integral member of the ticketing, communications and marketing team, the Venue Communications Coordinator will assist in all media-related matters and communications efforts in Edmonton. The position will work closely with the Venue Communications Manager, but also with the National Organising Committee’s communications team to ensure that the tournament’s overall external and internal communication objectives are met. The successful candidate will work closely with FIFA Media Officers to manage the press and photographer operations and services of the Venue, employing a common communications strategy that is delivered from coast-to-coast across the country for FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Reporting to the Venue Communications Manager Edmonton, the Venue Communications Coordinator will contribute and assist with the following activities:          

Support Venue Communications Manager with media relations activities, including media outreach, editorial content creation/updating, responding to media inquiries when necessary; Pre-competition event and promotion support; Setup of the venue’s press and photographer spaces, including the stadium media centre, press tribune, mixed zone, and media access routes and signage; Assist with venue-specific press and photographer operations during the competition, serving as a point of contact for local, national and international press and photographers in attendance; Serve as a liaison to the FIFA Media Officer(s) at the Edmonton venue and support/implement the tournament’s FIFA Media Guidelines. Assist in the coordination of match-day events, including post-match press conferences and mixed zone; Assist with offsite training venue media relations/activity; Organisation and training of Media Staff and Volunteers on operational tasks during the competition; Work closely with the Venue Communications Manager, Venue General Manager, and NOC ticketingcommunications-marketing team; Conduct duties assigned by the communications teams and Venue General Manager. Required Skills, Experience & Abilities  Demonstrated ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects  Effective verbal communications in both official languages, English and French (preferred)  Effective written and new media communication skills  Knowledge of local and national media  Good stadium infrastructure and technical expertise  Strong leadership abilities and experience with staff and volunteer management  Experience in media relations/operations for a major domestic and/or international event  Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external stakeholders  Ability to meet tight deadlines and work above and beyond expectations  Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail required  Flexible, diplomatic and courteous with a customer-service mindset Please Note  No relocation expenses will be provided  All applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada at the time of application  Must have a valid driver’s licence  Contract position, without benefits  The salary range for this position is prorated based on $30,000-40,000 per year Only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
