Speakers Dr. Craig Frear was recruited earlier this year from Washington State University (WSU) where he was instrumental in developing one of the nation's most prolific applied science and engineering programs in organic residuals and animal manure treatment for sustainable reuse. Over the last decade, Dr. Frear's research has focused on enhancements to anaerobic digestion, biochemical recovery from waste and development of bio-refinery principles for rural and urban communities. He holds five patents (with two pending) including an ammonia stripping system to remove ammonia from wastewater without the use of chemicals. In addition to his research, Dr. Frear is the author of over sixty peer-reviewed publications on methane capture to create biogas and nutrient management to allow liquid from manure to be safely reused. He has also served as an investigator on numerous federal and state grants in the same scientific classifications. Craig holds a PhD in Engineering Science from Washington State University, a MA in Educational Administration from Columbia University, and BA in Chemistry and Theology from St. Olaf College.

Ron Alexander President, R. Alexander Associates, Inc.

Mr. Alexander is a horticulturist with over 30 years of experience working with compost and other organic recycled products, including digester by-products. He is the President of R. Alexander Associates, Inc., a consulting company specializing in product and market development for organic recycled products. He has completed over 300 related projects since becoming a consultant, has been responsible for the distribution of millions of tons of organic recycled products and is the author of the 'The Practical Guide to Compost Marketing and Sales'. Before becoming a consultant, Mr. Alexander was Vice President of Marketing for a firm specializing in the marketing of organic recycled products. Tony is the Chief Operating Officer and founder of NEO Energy and Great Bay Fertilizer, subsidiaries of BayCorp Holdings, Ltd. NEO Energy is a developer of anaerobic digestion projects designed to convert food waste into fertilizers. Great Bay Fertilizer is the marketing company for the fertilizer produced by NEO's patented process of which Tony is a co-inventor. He presently serves as a member of the ABC Board of Directors and Secretary of the ABC.

He joined BayCorp Holdings, Ltd. as its Chief Operating Officer in April 2000 and has served as the Secretary and Director of the Company since May 2000. Currently acting as the company's Chief Development Officer, he is responsible for development of their portfolio of renewable energy projects including; biogas, biomass, solar and hydroelectric projects. He is a professional engineer registered in NH with over 35 years of experience in the power and renewable energy industry and holds a Master of Engineering Mechanical degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey.

Bob is the President of Cenergy USA and Co-Manager of Magic Dirt Horticultural Products, LLC.

Magic Dirt is four-year-old company that repurposes digester waste into sustainable and organic horticultural products. Its first product, a patented organic premium potting soil, has been named Innovation of the Year in international competition at the World BioProducts Conference and by the American Biogas Council. As a sustainable alternative to peat moss, an independent report calculates that each cubic yard of Magic Dirt avoids one ton of greenhouse gas emissions. In previous lives, Bob taught at a historically black college; served as a consultant to various lending institutions, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Resolution Trust and the Tourism Ministry of Spain; operated his own development and management company; co-founded a hospitality chain; tried to make a living as a journalist; and in a fit of youthful stupidity, worked in underwater construction. He is a writer and Fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts and is an inventor and patent holder for two Magic Dirt products. He is a graduate of the University of Arkansas and was commissioned in the U.S. Army. Daniel Nguyen is currently a Review Program Technical Supervisor at OMRI. Daniel supervises a team of Product Review Coordinators who evaluate inputs, such as composts, to both the National Organic Program and Canada Organic Regime. In addition to supervising Product Review Coordinators, Daniel also actively conducts product reviews. Daniel has a bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Oregon.
