In an industry that has nearly 1.25 million people involved in residential real estate sales, the fact that these sales associates have achieved the level of sales it takes to be in this esteemed group is outstanding. This is the 12th year REAL Trends published the ranking of the top sales professionals in the United States in partnership with The Wall Street Journal. These superb professionals closed 167,688 sides and more than $79 billion in sales volume in 2016 a new record for sales volume for this group and a 9 percent increase from The Thousand last year. It is incredible to consider that 1,000 sales professionals and teams could accomplish so much. In a continued effort to dig deep into how these sales professionals rank nationally, we ranked our top 50 individuals and top 50 teams by average sales price. Only those that met our minimum qualifications to apply for The Thousand were considered for the average sales price rankings. We could not have assembled this ranking of the nation’s finest and most productive real estate sales professionals without the assistance of the real estate industry’s leaders. We thank the leaders of the nation’s largest real estate brands and networks, local and state associations of Realtors® and many multiple listing systems (MLSs) for their efforts to support the compilation and verification of the data that applicants submitted to REAL Trends.

Please note that while we reached out to more than 2,000 separate U.S. realty organizations in an attempt to reach every sales professional who might qualify to be ranked on this list, it is highly likely that there are some fine real estate sales professionals who are not listed here. Some may not be here because they did not want to apply and others because the word of this ranking did not reach them. Thus, this version of REAL Trends The Thousand, as advertised in The Wall Street Journal, may not be a complete list. METHO OLOGY The application process begins in January when we send applications to those who qualified in past years. Then, we contact national real estate brands so that they may encourage sales associates and teams to apply. We also work directly with all brokerage firms ranked on the REAL Trends 500 and Up-and-Comers and virtually every local and

All production listed is based on the prior calendar year’s closed residential sales. We do not include leases or commercial sales. These numbers may include off-market listings. While we list the city and state of the main office where the sales professional or team is located, the sales included in the numbers may come from various other markets if the sales professional does business across multiple MLSs, cities and/or states. REGIONAL BREAKDOWN For the third year in a row, the South region dominated the transaction sides rankings with 43 percent in the teams category. However, the Midwest beat out the South on the individual category, with 38 percent and 33 percent respectively. The Midwest region came in closely behind on the teams category with 28 percent. The West came in third for the transaction sides with the Northeast closing in last again as it did in 2016. The Western region once again led the sales volume rankings, both for individuals with 51 percent and teams with 37 percent. The Northeast came in second for individuals by sales volume while the South came in slightly ahead on the teams by sales volume ranking. The Northeast represented 26 percent of the individual sales volume ranking, with the South representing 27 percent of the teams on the sales volume ranking. The Midwest had the fewest represented on both the individuals and teams by sales volume lists.
