Requirements: Metre fabric 1 metre x 150 cm, measuring tape, scissors and a sewing machine or needle and thread

Cut out these pieces: Front and back piece (A) 97 x 52 cm 2 Facings (B) 52 x 16 cm 2 Handles (C) 80 x 14 cm Pocket (D) 20 x 22 cm
Align the side seams against each other as shown in the illustration. Sew each corner to create the bottom of the shopping tote so that the sides measure 15 cm.

Fold handle pieces (C) twice lengthwise. Hem the edges of the handles so that each handle is 3.5 cm wide.

Hem the pocket piece (D). Sew three sides of pocket piece (D) to the patterned side front (A) where you want the pocket. Make sure to leave the top open for the pocket.

Pin the handles to piece (A) where you want them. Place facings (B) around piece (A) and over the pinned handles, with the patterned sides facing out. Sew the facings (B) to piece (A). Turn the tote rightside out.
Step 8: Sew a securing stitch around the top outside of the shopping tote as shown in the illustration and you’re done.
