Tracy Police Releases Camera Registry Program Tracy, Calif. –The Tracy Police Department is proud to announce the launch of a new and voluntary security camera registry program. This program will enable residents and business owners to partner with the police department and notify us that they are using private security cameras to keep their properties safe. In the event of criminal activity in a neighborhood, patrol officers and investigators can review the registry and reach out to residents and businesses that may have these cameras and ask to review their contents to seek leads to help solve crimes. Tracy Police Department Chief Larry Esquivel said, “Our goal is to make Tracy safe! We are constantly seeking new approaches to enhance our crime fighting efforts. This program does that, making us more effective. Please learn about this program and join our efforts to deter and solve crime!” Participation in the camera registry program is completely voluntary. The Tracy Police Department will only request camera footage after an incident has occurred and only review it with the permission of the camera owner. The police will not be able to access the camera remotely or in real time. Camera owners may leave the registry at any time. To learn more about the program or to register for the Tracy Police Department’s camera registry program, go to www.tracypd.com Questions about the program can be directed to Crime Prevention Unit at (209) 831-6602.
