GENERAL SUMMARY: The Little Rock Regional Chamber is seeking qualified applicants for the Director of Small Business & Diversity Initiatives. Under general supervision, this position will conduct activities to promote small business and diversity programming for the Little Rock region. The position is responsible for serving as a liaison to facilitate growth among small businesses, promoting small business and diversity activities in the region, developing events and seminars for small businesses, engaging with small business and entrepreneurships resources, and developing a knowledge of the small business ecosystem in the Little Rock area. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS: 1) Maintain and expand the working relationships with small businesses and the economic development support agencies 2) Provide a network of linkages and assistance with the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center, the Venture Center, the Innovation Hub, volunteer consultants from the business community, college and university instructors, businesses and trade associations, economic development agencies, and banks and financial leaders 3) Participate in community functions designed to enhance economic growth and diversity within the Little Rock area 4) Conduct outreach to small businesses within the region as well as respond to inquiries 5) Manage the Hispanic Business Council and other diversity programs 6) Develop, plan, and manage programming including networking events, small business lunches, and workshops/professional development 7) Collaborate with Events Director to plan and manage signature/community events with a focus on small business development and diversity, including but not limited to Minority Enterprise Development (MED) week in September 8) Interface with new business, community leaders, and municipal officials 9) Maintain client management database 10) Communicate and report to management, stakeholders, and partners 11) Compose, produce, and deliver proposals to various audience 12) Perform other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS: Required to drive around the Little Rock region for meetings and conferences. May be required to drive at night and/or in inclement weather from time to time. EFFORT: Sitting for extended periods of time at a computer. Must be able to see, hear and speak. Frequently need to talk and listen. MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT: Computer, printer, calculator, photocopy machine, fax machine, telephone, scanner, shredder, van or car TRAVEL: Expected travel outside Little Rock area 10% of the time. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree plus three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a business environment. A combination of education and experience may be substituted when proficiency is demonstrated. Must maintain a valid driver's license. The incumbent must be able to maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters. SPECIALIZED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: Ability to follow general instructions and participate as a member of a team. Ability to prepare reports and formulate recommendations concerning economic development projects. Ability to work with other staff, the public, and local stakeholders at the project level. Should have excellent communication skills as well as the ability and discretion to work with small business executives Analytical, interpersonal, and computer skills. Extensive facility in MS Office applications. Familiarity with Salesforce considered a plus. Knowledge of the small business ecosystem in Little Rock is a plus.
