66 Austin’s two wastewater treatment plants have a combined capacity of treating 155 MILLION gallons of wastewater/sewage per day

Working as a Treatment O&M Technician takes grit, and in some cases, a strong stomach. Employees work hard in a safety-sensitive and team-oriented environment to efficiently provide safe, reliable, and uninterrupted water and wastewater services to Austin Water customers. The O&M Technician job is critical to public health and safety. As an O&M Technician, one must acquire the appropriate water or wastewater license from the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) within one (1) year from start date. Holding a license in both water & wastewater disciplines gives the employee more flexibility in career paths. Licensing fees are reimbursed by Austin Water. Austin Water provides unique promotion opportunities for Treatment O&M Technicians Treatment O&M Technician 9% of the 23 supervisors started without having to go through ASSOCIATE as a Treatment Plant Worker the competitive process.
