Cutting a two-day wait down to 10 minutes Recently, Symantec introduced a new feature called Ready Issuance, which reduces the wait for SSL certificates from days into minutes. TrustAsia became the first website security partner in Asia-Pacific to offer it. “Customers who needed to order or renew an Organization Validated (OV) SSL certificate used to have to wait two to three days to get it,” explains Derick Xu, Marketing Director at TrustAsia. “Now, using Symantec Ready Issuance, they can order and install their certificates in just 10 minutes.” Symantec Ready Issuance streamlines authentication. It enables customers to go through the authentication process just once, by submitting their organization details, domain name(s), and contact information, and receiving a validation call. The validated data is then authenticated and stored, and from that point forward, the designated customer contact can instantly issue Symantec SSL certificates for the rest of the life of the Symantec authentication order. Customers can add up to 25 extra domains and up to 10 corporate contacts per Ready Issuance order.
Many steps eliminated Customers appreciate the faster process, Derick explains. An organization might have numerous certificates that need to be ordered or renewed each year, typically on different dates. There is usually one corporate contact in charge of renewal. “That person used to have to go through the entire authentication process, which can take 48 hours, once a year for each of their certificates,” says Derick. The amount of time that customers save can be substantial. “Some of our customers have 70-80 Symantec SSL certificates,” Derick points out. “By eliminating two days of waiting per certificate, Symantec Ready Issuance saves these customers more than a hundred days of waiting time per year, increasing their competitive edge.” With the new Symantec feature, it’s easier for organizations to make sure certificates get renewed before they expire. “If customers need to renew a certificate, it’s in their hands in just 10 minutes, and they can order and install it in one step,” Derick adds.
Easy for partners The Ready Issuance feature is also helping TrustAsia’s channel partners. About 25 percent of the company’s revenue comes from partners such as Content Delivery Network (CDN) providers. A CDN hosts distributed servers on behalf of its clients, who are often media companies or web retailers. These servers are positioned close to regional users, speeding the delivery of the client’s webpages and other content. The result is faster response, smoother video, and a higher quality user experience. Each CDN server, however, needs to be authenticated with an SSL certificate, and TrustAsia provides channel partners with an engine to automate and streamline the certification process. “Our value-added services make it easier for companies such as a CDN provider to serve their own customers,” Derick says.

Ready Issuance has been well-received. “During the testing phase, we had about 30 customers that used the Ready Issuance feature,” says Derick. “We estimate that within nine months, approximately 150 of our customers will be using this feature.” Symantec Ready Issuance is recommended for customers that require five or more certificates, have multiple divisions or domains such as .com and .net, or have global brands or websites, such as .ch, .vn, .kh, etc.
