Applied Creative Photography In “Understanding your Digital SLR Camera” you learned how to use your digital camera. Now it’s time to practice what you’ve learned in this hands-on outdoor course. The class meets every week at four different photogenic locations, all within easy driving distance of the school. Each session will highlight particular camera skills learned in the classroom, and apply them to that week’s location. Every location will offer different challenges for the beginning and experienced photographer! A few of the many skills covered are as follows: choosing the right ISO for the lighting conditions; should aperture, shutter priority, or manual exposure settings be used; would a CPL filter be appropriate; is a tripod necessary; is “depth-of-field” a concern; what would be the “best” lens choice for the location, and much more. Plus, one session will be devoted to using shutter-priority to “freeze” or “blur” the motion of falling water. In another session, using aperturepriority, you’ll learn to take better outdoor portraits using reflectors and fill-flash. You’ll gain confidence in your camera skills with each session, in a fun-filled informal atmosphere. Prerequisite: “Understanding Your Digital SLR Camera,” or permission from the instructor before the start of the course.
