January was a strong month for public procurement, with the second highest number of tenders published of any month over the past two years. 2,206 tenders were published with a total value of £39.6B. This was 45% higher than the average value over the past six months and a 304% increase on January 2017. The large overall value was partly driven by a £12B tender published by the Cabinet Office/CCS for their "Facilities Management Marketplace" framework. If awarded at this value it will be the largest ever facilities management contract. Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs published 39 tenders in January - more than any other public sector buyer. Does this high level of activity reflect the department's significant exposure to the policy impacts of Brexit? Tenders Summary - January 2018
