Fraud scam The Department of Tourism call on service providers not to be lured into a fraud scam which demands them to do business with the Department and requests upfront payment. These fraudsters use fictitious appointment letters, purchase orders and contracts supposedly from the Department with a forged signature of the Director Supply Chain Management and/or Director-General. The Department is inundated with calls and visits from service providers because they have been offered tenders by people claiming to be working for the Department. The Department wants to set the record straight that no service provider is expected to pay any fee to be awarded a tender. All tenders are advertised within the context of prescribed prescripts. Services providers and the public, are all warned to remain vigilant to the tender scam and further advised to report such to the nearest police station.
