Cruise the west coast of Scotland and the Hebrides

The perfect way to explore the west coast of Scotland is from the sea on our unique small-ship cruises. Journey through Scotland’s western waterways to beautiful remote sea lochs and the islands of the Inner and Outer Hebrides. Each island has its own individual character, from white shell-sand beaches to rugged rocky shorelines, while the mainland coast is dotted with sea lochs, backed by forests and massive mountain ranges. But be warned, exploring the Hebrides is addictive and, like many of our guests, you will want to return for more amazing voyages.

The natural environment provides a fresh, delicious larder Our food gets rave reviews from our guests. Every day, a delicious menu is created by your onboard Chef from the best of local, seasonal produce with special diets catered for. Seafood and fish are sourced from the clear waters of the sea lochs and wild venison, beef and lamb from the hills. The delicatessen delights for which Scotland is famous will also appear on your plate. Each meal is served at a different anchorage with a backdrop of a beautiful Hebridean coastline providing an unforgettable setting.

Our Vessels A choice of cruise itineraries Our three vessels are custom-designed for voyages to the Inner and Outer Hebrides. The Glen Massan and Glen Tarsan are charming conversions of traditional fishing boats with sturdy wooden hulls. Our new vessel, The Glen Etive was custom built on the Clyde with a steel hull in the same traditional style, and with additional features for longer voyages to more open waters. All three vessels have high quality brass and hardwood finishes. The accommodation on board is designed for maximum enjoyment and relaxation while at sea, with ensuite cabins, panoramic views from the dining deck saloon and the three outdoor decks.

Tony Hardley

The Glen Massan and Glen Tarsan accommodate 11 guests in 6 double ensuite cabins. Cruises are 6-nights duration with a choice of 7 itineraries sailing the more sheltered waters of the Islands of the Inner and Southern Hebrides and the shores of Argyll, Ardnamurchan and Morvern. A 3-night cruise is very popular on these vessels for those short of time or who wish to test their sea legs for the first time. The Glen Etive was specially designed to explore the more far-flung areas of the Western Isles, offering 10-night cruises to reach the Outer Hebrides and St Kilda, with more open water cruising. A 6-night cruise to Skye and the Small Isles is also available in April and October. The Glen Etive carries 12 guests in 7 double ensuite cabins.

This is an epic sea journey which starts in the Holy Loch in the magnificent Firth of Clyde and ends in the fabulous Firth of Lorn and Oban. The islands of the Clyde include Bute, Cumbrae, and Arran as well as the very picturesque Kyles of Bute and the volcanic plug, Ailsa Craig. From the Clyde, a bracing cruise rounding the Mull of Kintyre allows access to the southernmost islands of the Hebrides. Here, the coastline is dramatic, dotted with thousands of inlets and sheltered forested sea lochs for dropping anchor, with Loch Sween and Loch Crinan particular favourites. The drama of the proximity of mountain ranges on the coastline with the islands out to sea can only be appreciated from the water. Your vessel follows the twelfth century sea route of the “Lords of the Isles” via the isles of Gigha, Islay and Jura to the Corryvreckan Whirlpool and the Slate Isles.

A cruise through the beautiful sea loch of Loch Linnhe, past the quintessential Scottish Castle, Castle Stalker, is a fitting prelude to the masterpiece of Victorian engineering which is the Caledonian Canal. Neptune’s Staircase is a wonder of Telford’s engineering, and from there the canal passes through charming villages, spectacular lochs, and beautiful countryside. Viewing Glencoe from your vessel is the best vantage point to soak in the brooding atmosphere with the towering mass of Ben Nevis ever present in the distance. Idyllic Isles of the Outer Hebrides Glen Etive 10-night cruise with departures May - September / Price per person £4250

The Outer Hebrides is an island world like no other. On the very edge of the Atlantic Ocean, the pace of life is slower, the majority of inhabitants speak Gaelic and crofting is a way of life. Many of the rugged and mysterious islands, with evocative names such as Mingulay, the Monachs and the Shiants are populated only by thousands of seabirds. The scenery is breath-taking with huge skies and green seas providing a striking backdrop to white sand beaches and the jagged crags of some of the most remote, unspoiled and enchanting islands of the Hebrides. The crystal clear waters are home to many cetaceans, with porpoise, several species of dolphin and even whales and orcas regularly putting in an appearance. The cruising area is vast, with much of it open sea, therefore stopovers such as Coll, Barra, The Small Isles, Skye, the Uists and Harris depend on wind direction and tide. LEWIS
