Getting there Qantas operates direct services from Australia to Honolulu four times per week, with same day connections with Hawaiian Airlines to Maui, Kaua‘i and Hawai‘i the Big Island. Jetstar operates direct services from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Check with your travel consultant for the most up-todate schedules at the time of booking. The Hawaiian Islands Travel Tips Waikiki Beach

The hard part is over; you’ve decided where to go; now it comes down to the organising. Sometimes it is the basic things that we tend to forget so Qantas Holidays has compiled some tips to simplify your planning.

Tipping

The Hawaiian Language Proper use of the Hawaiian language includes the use of the ‘okina (which represents a glottal stop-a consonant). The ‘okina distinguishes many words, and without this orthography word definitions change. You will see we have introduced this marking throughout our brochure to ensure the correct use and understanding of the Hawaiian language.

Climate

Currency

There are only two seasons in the Hawaiian Islands and as the islands are located in the tropics, temperatures remain fairly stable year round. These are: summer (May-Oct) 29ºC and winter (Nov-Apr) 25ºC.

As the Hawaiian Islands are an American state, the local currency is the US dollar. All notes are the same size, shape and colour so check each note carefully when making payments.

Public holidays

Please note many hotels, condominiums or apartments now charge a Daily Resort Fee or Mandatory Checkout Cleaning Charge. These are compulsory fees which, unless specified, are payable direct and are charged by the hotel/ condominiums/apartments and cover a variety of inclusions which vary by property. These fees may have different names including Amenity Fee, Hospitality Fee, Resort Service Fee, Resort Activity Program Fee and Mandatory Checkout Cleaning Charge. Where the fee is known at time of printing we have noted it under each individual hotel feature. These fees and their inclusions are subject to change.

It is customary to tip for all services, including taxis and porterage, in addition to bar and restaurant service. As a guide, tip up to 10-20% of the bill in restaurants and US$1 per drink in bars. For porterage services US$1 per bag is standard. On sightseeing tours it is customary, though not obligatory, to show your appreciation to the escort and driver.

Passport, visas and insurance It is now mandatory, under the Visa Waiver Program, to receive an electronic authorisation known as ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) no less than 72 hours before travel to the USA. This can be obtained at the following website www.cbp. gov/esta. We strongly recommend that you purchase a comprehensive travel insurance policy when you book your holiday. O‘ahu Stunning natural attractions are in abundance in O‘ahu however, unlike its neighboring islands, you can also have a lively urban experience in its capital, Honolulu. There are plenty of opportunities to shop, bar hop and try out the diverse range of restaurants on the archipelago’s most populous island. Once you’ve satisfied your urban needs, explore the wonders of O‘ahu. Venture to the surfing mecca of the North Shore and discover the stunning beaches, visit historical Pearl Harbour and trek into the virgin rainforest of Makiki Valley. Whatever you do, don’t miss a sunset drink on spectacular and popular Waikiki Beach.

Maui With so many stunning beaches to choose from, it’s no surprise that many of Maui’s activities are centred on its beautiful waters. This is the ideal place to snorkel with sea turtles, kayak with dolphins or spot humpback whales on a sunset cruise. There are plenty of exciting experiences to be had on land too. Travel along the famous Road to Hana and take in the beauty of the

bamboo jungles, spectacular waterfalls and tranquil swimming holes. Head to the summit of the epic Haleakala, a dormant volcano for magnificent views of the island or simply relax at one of Wailea’s luxurious resorts.

Kaua‘i Filled with lush rainforests, soaring cliffs, emerald valleys and golden beaches, Kaua‘i is simply breathtaking. Outdoor adventurers revel in this magical setting, taking advantage of the spectacular hiking, swimming, sailing and golfing opportunities. But there’s much more to do. Explore the beautiful Waimea Canyon, often dubbed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific, take a thrilling helicopter ride over the soaring cliffs of the Napali Coast or snorkel with turtles and tropical fish in Kaua‘i’s mesmerising underwater world. For the less adventurous, Kaua‘i offers a rich, cultural experience, whether you’re sampling the traditional Hawaiian cuisine or watching an enchanting hula show.

Hawai‘i - the Big Island Larger than all of the other Hawaiian islands combined, Hawai‘i - the Big Island, is also the youngest. It’s home to Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes and this attraction alone makes it a popular destination for visitors, most choosing to view it via the popular aerial tour. Beyond the volcanoes, there is much to see and experience. Moloka‘i Visit Moloka‘i and travel back in time to a place that still practices Hawaiian traditions and is hidden away from the outside world. No building is taller than a coconut tree and there is not traffic or traffic lights. Home to the highest sea cliffs in the world and one of the largest white sand beaches on the Hawaiian Islands, Moloka‘i is an island for outdoor adventure.

The prices and inclusions in this brochure are valid for the dates specified and should be used as a guide only. The prices are correct at date of publication but may fluctuate due to changes in surcharges, fees, taxes and currency. Please check all prices, availability and other information with your travel consultant before booking. Suppliers: Qantas Holidays is not itself a transport, tour, event or accommodation provider. In making your travel arrangements we act only as an agent for the airlines, hotels, tour operators and other suppliers who supply those services. You should obtain and read the applicable supplier’s terms and conditions as they may limit or exclude their liability to you. How to book: Contact your ATAS travel consultant, who will be responsible for managing your booking and forwarding your payment to us. You will be deemed to have accepted these conditions on behalf of everyone named in your booking. Please note that all requests for bookings are subject to availability. Booking fee: Your travel agency may apply a booking fee in addition to the price of your holiday package. Please check at the time of booking. Payment: A non-refundable deposit is payable within seven days of confirmation of your booking: • domestic (within Australia) $55 per person • international $165 per person • plus any additional deposit required by suppliers (you will be notified at the time of booking) Payment of the balance in full is required at least 30 days before the scheduled commencement of your holiday (or earlier if specified for the particular package). For bookings made within this period, full payment is required at the time of booking. If you have not paid by the due date, we may cancel your booking and retain your deposit.

Cancellations: If you cancel your booking, the amount of your deposit will not be refunded, including deposits required by suppliers. If you have paid the balance of your holiday price, suppliers may also impose cancellation fees amounting to all or part of the total price paid. Once your holiday has commenced, you cannot cancel or obtain a refund on any component of your booking regardless of whether you use it. Changes by you: If you change your holiday package and your documents need to be reissued, a change fee is payable at the time of the change: • domestic (within Australia) $27 • international $25 • plus any cancellation / change fee imposed by suppliers for any component you cancel. Unforseen changes: If we have to change any part of your booking, for example, if an airline changes its schedules or your chosen accommodation is no longer available, or if there is an increase in the price due to additional taxes or supplier charges, we will notify you. You will have the option of cancelling your booking, in which case we will refund the amount you have paid, less deposit and any cancellation fees imposed by other suppliers. International travel: Each passenger is responsible for their own visa, passport (with at least 6 months validity), immigration, quarantine, customs, health and other requirements of the countries to be visited or transited through. Qantas Holidays makes no representations as to the safety, conditions or other issues that may arise at any destination. Limit of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Qantas Holidays excludes all liability for direct, indirect, consequential or incidental damages, lost profits or savings or damages for disappointment.
