Other States: Nebraska Mediation Center Association 877-342-2004 (toll free) www.nemediation.org Missouri Mediation Association P.O. Box 67 Liberty, MO 64069 CONTINUING MEDIATION EDUCATION: There have been a number of complaints from rural mediators that they cannot easily obtain CME credits. The Council received approval from OJA to implement the following policy for allowing credit towards completion of the 6 hour CME requirement. The Dispute Resolution Coordinator will be given discretion in approving any of the following: DISCUSSION GROUP: Approved mediators can receive up to half their CME credit (3 hours) through participation in discussion group meetings which are approved by the Office of Dispute Resolution. The purpose of a discussion group is to review problems which have developed in mediations. Each discussion group must be made up of three or more approved mediators who have completed a mediation since their last participation in a discussion group. One of the participating mediators can be designated to gain approval for the CME. Each participant is required to submit a very short summary of the discussion. One hour of discussion group participation will equal one hour of CME credit. VIDEOTAPE: Approved mediators can receive up to half their CME credit (3 hours) by participating in a videotape mediation presentation. The videotapes must be approved in advance by the Dispute Resolution Coordinator. An approved videotape presentation will consist of an approved videotape, a discussion of the videotape by three or more approved mediators and distribution of any written materials to all participating mediators. Each participant is required to submit a very short summary of the discussion. PRESENTATION: Approved mediators can received up to one hour of CME credit for making a one hour or more presentation to a professional organization on how mediation works. The presenting mediator must submit verification of the presentation which can include a meeting agenda or letter from the organization. A professional organization is defined as one which has a good chance of applying the information on mediation within their organization. All trains approved for CME by the Office of Dispute Resolution will be eligible.
