Carol Salva is a current Refugee Teacher on Special Assignment in Houston, Texas. She is also an educational consultant with Seidlitz Education. Carol was named Spring Branch ISD’s District Teacher of the Year in 2009 and is a certified Abydos Writing trainer as well as a former Bilingual and Special Education teacher. Carol specializes in using research-based strategies to teach grade-level content to unschooled/ under-schooled language learners. Carol Salva holds a Masters degree in Education Administration with a Principal Certification.

Are you looking for innovative ways to boost achievement and build language skills with technology? This training will provide teaching strategies that support authentic technology use for ELL (English Language Learners) in their ESL and content area classes. Participants will go beyond just looking at apps that teach a second language; they will discover the five keys to using technology effectively with ELLs. John Seidlitz is an independent educational consultant and the author of Sheltered Instruction Plus: A Guide for Texas Teachers of English Learners; Navigating the ELPS: Using the New Standards to Improve Instruction for English Learners; and 7 Steps to Developing a Language-Rich Interactive Classroom. Mr. Seidlitz has been a member of the SIOP® National faculty and guest lecturer for many regional and national language development conferences. He taught social studies and ESL, served as a secondary ESL program coordinator, and held the position of education specialist at ESC Region 20 in San Antonio, Texas. In 2005, Mr. Seidlitz founded Seidlitz Education which is dedicated to the mission of Giving Kids the Gift of Academic Language™.
