Utah State University Rodeo Club Constitution Article I: Name of the Organization The name of this organization shall be the Utah State University Rodeo Club. Article II: Statement of Purpose: The purpose of the Rodeo Club is for members to learn about and compete in the sport of rodeo on a collegiate level, as well as promoting the sport in a positive way, being ambassadors to the sport of Utah State University to the sport of college rodeo, and mentoring young up and coming rodeo athletes. Club members will adhere to all rules and regulations of the NIRA and uphold the rule and traditions of Utah State University. This team falls under the Campus Recreation Department, and specifically the Club Sports Program. We report to the Competitive Sports Coordinator. Article III: Membership • • • • • • •

Membership is open to all students enrolled at Utah State University who are in good academic standing. Members must maintain a minimum of a 2.0 GPA, and 12 Credits of academic courses. Members are expected to pay team dues once per semester: $30 for timed event contestants and $15 for rough stock contestants. Members are required to acquire sponsorships to fund the Utah State University Stampede each fall. New members must bring in a minimum of $500 and past members must bring in a minimum of $700. Members will adhere to all university policies when attending college rodeos. Violators will be disciplined. Members must participate in club fundraising activities. If members fulfill aforementioned guidelines and obtain a National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association membership they will be eligible to compete as a member of the Utah State University Rodeo team at collegiate rodeos. Article IV: Suspension/Removal of Members If a team member should not abide by the rules set forth in this document, then a separate meeting of the executive committee will be scheduled to discuss consequences. Infractions will be judged based on severity and punishments will progress from warnings, fines, suspensions, or removal based on the discretion of the executive committee and in compliance with University policy. Article V: Meetings

Club meetings will be scheduled weekly from the first week of school in the fall, until holding the home rodeo competition. Further meetings will be scheduled as needed by the rodeo coach, club advisor, and/or the executive committee. Members are required to attend all meetings. If a member cannot attend, they must notify the coach or club advisor. If a member misses a meeting without notification



they will be assessed a fine of $10, and they will be responsible to find out what was discussed in that meeting. Presidency will be required to meet monthly during the academic year. Article VI: Practices Practices will be held twice weekly during and leading up to both fall and spring seasons for timed event competitors. Livestock will be provided depending on the amount of funding available. University facilities do not have the equipment to provide practice for rough stock competitors. Rough stock competitors will be reimbursed for two head at two separate practices each semester. Article VII: Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of a head coach, assistant coach(s), president, vice president, secretary, men’s team captain, and women’s team captain. The committee is organized by team members by means of an election by majority vote. 1. President: -Shall be responsible for attending the monthly SCAB meeting, or notifying another member of the presidency to take his/her place if unable to attend. -Will assist coaches with anything pertaining to the home rodeo, meetings, practices, and help make assignments. -Serves as a liaison between the rodeo team and Campus Recreation, student organizations, and activities. 2. Vice President: -Assists the Coaches and President when needed. -Attend SCAB meetings with President when able, or serves as an alternate in his/her absence. -Keeps the website up to date. 3. Secretary -Keeps an agenda of the meetings. -Contacts the press when necessary with team happenings and statistics. As well as handling publicity for the team. -Assists coaches and presidency with distributing the draw. 4. Men’s and Women’s Team Captains: -Attend the regional meeting in the fall and spring with captains from other teams. -If any discrepancies arise during an event, i.e. barrier conflicts, re-rides, etc. and the event director does not take action, the captain is responsible to bring concerns to the attention of the event director, the coach, and/or the faculty director as a representative of the contestant Article VIII: Service Projects The team is responsible to perform some sort of service for the community of Cache Valley at least once every semester, preferably one every month during the school year. Service will help the team build a good reputation with the community and assist in acquiring sponsors in future years.





1. Participation -Participation is mandatory and very few excuses will be allowed to prevent a team member from required attendance. School, work or family emergencies are the only things the team will excuse. -Failure to notify an officer about absence to any service project throughout the year will result in a $20 fine for the first offense and a one rodeo suspension for any subsequent un-notified absences. -These projects are vital in helping the team to grow and show the city of Logan and surrounding areas that the tam appreciates all the help received from the community. 2. Arrangement of Service Projects -Executive officers are responsible to arrange service projects throughout the year, NOT the coaches. The service project can be anything that helps the community in a positive way and should not net the team any form of compensation. Article IX: Individual Responsibilities As a member of the Utah State University Rodeo Team each member should uphold all morals and rules put forth by the university. Whenever the team is at an away rodeo everyone should remember that they are representing Utah State University, and any misrepresentation can result in punishment set forth by the coaches and officers or the university if the infraction is severe enough. All members should help teammates with anything for which they need assistance. No one should be left feeding/watering by themselves and teammates are required to help each other in the arena as well. This is a team and teammates should conduct themselves in such a manner. Article X: Amendments

Amendments may be made to this Constitution by a majority vote of all members, including officers and coaches.
