VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Contract Modality : Service Contract Post Title : Project coordination Officer Grade : LA/R1 as per UNESCO New Delhi Service Contract Remuneration Grid Sector : Innovation Unit Duty Station : UNESCO MGIEP, India Primary Location : New Delhi, India Duration : 12 month, extendable based of satisfactory performance Date of Issue : 5th September 2016 Last Date of Application: 4th October 2016- 4PM[IST] OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST Background The Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development (MGIEP) is UNESCO’s first education-related category 1 institute towards the development and promotion of new approaches to education for a more peaceful and sustainable world. The Institute, based in New Delhi, India, aims to contribute to the conceptualization, design and formulation of regional and sub-regional strategies in education for peace and sustainable development, in particular through South-South and triangular NorthSouth-South cooperation. MGIEP plans to provide an integrated approach to education for peace and sustainable development. Work assignment: The candidate should have a Masters Degree with 3-4 years of professional experience in the field of education. The candidate should be adept in research and must have undertaken coursework in qualitative or quantitative analysis (ideally both) and must be comfortable doing grassroots fieldwork such as data collection, coordination and direct liaisoning with schools. Under the overall authority of the Director of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development and direct supervision of Project Officer (Innovations Programme), the candidate will provide programmatic and project coordination support on the Learning Labs project of the Innovations Programme. The candidate will support the implementation of the Learning Labs: 1. Help the Innovations team collect, code, and analyse a large set of qualitative and quantitative data. 2. Expand programme to other countries through contacting relevant schools, helping with due diligence, and providing coordination support for project activities. 3. Facilitate and provide logistics and thematic support in organizing multinational teacher trainings and student workshops 4. Develop concept note and undertake logistics responsibility and coordination for the Partners meet/ workshop 5. Moderate discussions with the Advisory Group and group of experts.

6. Moderate and facilitate students and teachers dialogue on peace and sustainable development on multiple online groups and communities 7. Help design and develop communication materials for the project 8. Map existing international and national initiatives on intercultural dialogue at school level and apprise the project leader time to time. 9. Other project activities related to learning labs as they arise. The selected staff will also serve on other projects as needed, as per the discretion of the supervisor. Qualifications and Experience: REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION Master’s Degree in Education, social science or relevant subject. WORK EXPERIENCE The candidate should have a Masters Degree with 3-4 years of professional experience in the field of education. The candidate should be adept in research and must have undertaken coursework in qualitative or quantitative analysis (ideally both) and must be comfortable doing grassroots fieldwork such as data collection, coordination and direct liaisoning with schools. Experience in handling web-based management systems is essential. Usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and advanced knowledge of ICT driven education tools will be an asset.
