ABOUT AMEA AMEA is a new global initiative started by SCOPEinsight and driven forward with the help of founders: IFC, ICCO Cooperation, NCBA CLUSA, ACDI/VOCA, VECO and Argidius with the goal to bring about a standardized approach towards farmer business professionalism through member commitments and alignment in the platform. The AMEA platform will be the core network organisation through which such a standard can be built and implemented. The platform has specific intentions of ensuring robust branding and marketing in order to secure stable membership accruement and quality participation. The platform is a multistakeholder structure currently being housed at the SCOPEinsight offices in Utrecht and is looking for a passionate and independent leader that can manage the AMEA initiative.

JOB DESCRIPTION The AMEA Platform Manager oversees the implementation of the AMEA platform. With a focused approach for building up the membership base of AMEA, the platform manager brings strong networking and business development skills on board. The manager leads logistical and administrative support required to run the AMEA platform. He/She also ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing with all stakeholders. Finally the manager supports resource mobilization efforts, aiming to secure grants and donor funds for AMEA.

Oversee and report on implementation of the AMEA platform    

Implement guidance and directions from the board through clear work plans and monthly progress reports Coordination and management for all activities on behalf of the platform - including supervision of support staff (SCOPEinsight) Generate supporting documents, communication material and promotion for the platform Design and establish a monitoring and evaluation plan to track progress

Focused approach for building up the membership base of AMEA  Actively promote the platform and seek out potential members through the network provided by the board, current members and beyond  Lead membership strategy, taking into account a sustainable membership fee or other innovative revenue models to sustain platform activities  Prepare member communication and service member requests

Lead logistical and administrative support required to run the platform  Oversee maintenance of the internal expenditures control system and transactions are correctly recorded and reported to the platform treasurer and ultimately to the board  Manage correspondences, liaising with stakeholders, office management and any supporting staff for smoother implementation of tasks  Ensures facilitation of knowledge building and knowledge sharing with all stakeholders  Prepare synthesis of lessons learnt and best practices of the platform  Contribute to documentation of knowledge products  Contribute to promotion and up scaling of best practices

Support resource mobilization, focusing on achievement of the following results  Promote and establish close relations with project partners, as well as other complementary projects related to farmer professionalism in the agricultural sector  Regularly hold bilateral meetings with key platform members to ensure they are having their concerns addressed and continue seeing added value in the platform  Support in the analysis of information on donors and support in the preparation of donor’s profiles where appropriate  Leading role in preparing board meetings together with the board chair and relevant committees  Participate in all board meetings, reporting to the chair and board, including minutes and follow-up  Sensitizes stakeholders, donors and other international organizations to project’s strategic agenda, identifying areas for joint efforts

REQUIREMENTS Education  MSc in economics, agriculture economics, agribusiness, rural development, sustainable management of natural resources, or related fields is desired, however, all backgrounds will be considered

Experience  At least 5 years of relevant and proven professional experience in execution and implementation of projects with multidisciplinary stakeholders  Expertise in the strategy and design of successful multi stakeholder platforms  Knowledge and experience working with agribusiness and particularly smallholder farming in developing countries  Knowledge of industry standards and standardization is valued  Experience and proven ability to work with interdisciplinary teams

Language  Fluency in English (French or Spanish is a strong plus)
