The Vallejo Parade Association, a local non-profit organization, presents the 164th Vallejo 4th of July Parade "Red, White & Blue Jubilee" beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 4. The parade starts at Tennessee and Broadway Streets and takes the traditional route west to Sonoma Boulevard, south on Sonoma, and west again to end on Georgia and Mare Island Way. This year's parade features giant puppets, horses, cars, costume characters, musical performers, dignitaries and much more. For more information, click here. Mad Hatter July 4th Water Front Festival The July 4th Waterfront Festival will begin at 11:00 a.m. and conclude at 10:00 p.m. on the Waterfront. Festivities will include: Bathtub Regatta and Zombie Kayakers Maritime Dog Parade Artisan Beer Garden Two food courts Boxing Demo, Native American Drummers, Mexican Folk Dancers, and Marching Bands Two stages of music, a DJ Booth, and Classic Cars Carnival children rides and teen sporting activities (boxing, baseball, basketball) visual imaging STEM, Fighter Fighter's Academy, and Kite flying. Empress Theater Events Johnny Rawls

Celebrate Independence Day and ride roller coasters at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Put in a full three days of fun at the park with its extended hours from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and each day culminating in an extravagant fireworks display. Throughout the day, experience thrills and chills on your favorite roller coasters and rides, enjoy the summer weather, and snack on delicious treats like ice cream, churros and funnel cakes! Young Artiszen's Saturdays Every Saturday, Artiszen is hosting art classes for children ages 7-17. Children 6 and under must be accompanied by an adult. The first class is free and a $5-$10 Sliding Scale donation is appreciated, but no one will be turned away. The Artiszen Cultural Arts Center is located on 337 Georgia Street and Saturday art classes are held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information, click here.

Johnny Rawls will be playing at the Empress Theater on July 7. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Johnny Rawls is an American soul blues singer, guitarist, arranger, songwriter and record producer. He was influenced by the deep soul music of the 1960s, as performed by O. V. Wright, James Carr, and Z. Z. Hill, although his styling, production and lyrics are more contemporary in nature. To date, Rawls has released more than a dozen albums under his name. He has been nominated twelve times for a Blues Music Award. For more information, click here. Braiden Sunshine & Lyndsey Elm

Dance Tribe Vallejo Dance Tribe Vallejo is a conscious and ecstatic dance inspired by nature-centered wisdom traditions. Groove to live DJ music woven with live improvisational music and drums. Let your body be moved to the inspiring rhythms of World Beat, Tribal, Soul, Funk, Deep House, Ambient, and more. There are no steps to follow, and no right or wrong steps. This dance is a trans-formative, heart-centered and liberating experience for all. The event is from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. and it is located at The Hub on 350 Georgia Street. Vallejo Watershed Alliance

Come watch Braiden Sunshine and Lyndsey Elm at the Empress Theater on July 8. Doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Towards the end of summer 2015, Braiden was finishing up in the studio when he received the call to audition for NBC's The Voice. He went on to compete all the way to the semifinals and quickly gained the support of the judges and garnered national attention winning the hearts of fans across the country. Lyndsey Elm is a 24-year-old pop soul singer/songwriter from Vacaville. She most recently gained national attention and exposure as a contestant on Season 9 of NBC's hit singing competition, "The Voice."

On Saturday, July 9, from 9:00 a.m. to noon, the Vallejo Watershed Alliance will meet at the boat launch in Dan Foley Park for a cleanup of Lake Chabot. The Alliance will be tackling both shoreline and the water, so feel free to bring a canoe or kayak if you're going to be on the water. Otherwise, bring a bucket for the bank cleanup. Wear closed toe shoes, sturdy clothes, hat, sunscreen and gloves. This event is a partnership with the Alliance, Vallejo Flood & Wastewater District, Greater Vallejo Recreation District, Friends of Lake Chabot, Solano Sierra Club, and the Solano Resource Conservation District. Summer Art Camp: July 10-24 The Vallejo Community Arts Foundation is hosting a Summer Arts Camp for children ages 7-14, with the theme "Mythology & Fantasy." Dates for the camp are July 10 through 24, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. During the camp, students will focus on a dozen different projects, with classes taught by local professional artists at various art studios. The cost of the camp includes all art supplies and field trips, Camp Tshirt and snacks. Financial assistance is available for those in need of help with tuition. Spencer James was the Winner of the World Series of Comedy in Las Vegas in 2014. Since then, he has become a regular on the strip, performing at the Stratosphere, Laugh Factory, and Brad Garrett's comedy club at the world famous MGM Grand. In 2015, he taped his first comedy album at "Zanies" in Chicago which can be heard on Pandora, iTunes, Sirius XM, and was spotlighted on Fox's standup comedy show "Laughs." A former fat kid turned comedian, Spencer James is a multi-talented performer mixing in dance and an acapella voice for a once in a generation type of performance. Second Friday Art Walk

The Vallejo Art Walk occurs on the second Friday of every month. Located in the Downtown Vallejo Arts and Entertainment District, this event encourages the sale of art and also celebrates the growth of artists moving to the area. Most businesses and galleries are located within the central area of the downtown district, and easily accessible by foot. A map of the area highlights stores participating in the art walk. Artists set up and sell art on the sidewalks and indoors. The Vallejo Art Walk is held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on July 14. For more information, visit the Vallejo Art Walk website.

Jen Tough Gallery is a new contemporary art gallery in the historic downtown. Jen Tough has a background in art direction and design for over 20 years in Los Angeles. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honors) from Ohio State University, attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and Parsons School of Design/The New School program in West Africa. She was the Art Director for Warner Bros. Records, Urban Outfitters (Philadelphia) and numerous national magazines. Her clients included Hollywood Records (Disney), Drew Carey and Nike.

Focusing primarily on abstraction and/or experimental mediums, exhibited works are both accessible and intellectually provocative. Exhibiting artists are from across the United States and exhibitions change monthly. Once Upon a Mattress Once Upon a Mattress is a musical comedy with music by Mary Rodgers, lyrics by Marshall Barer, and book by Jay Thompson, Dean Fuller, and Marshall Barer. It opened off-Broadway in May 1959, and then moved to Broadway. The play was written as an adaptation of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale The Princess and the Pea. Due to an unhappy curse, King Sextimus is unable to speak. Meanwhile, his terror-ofa-wife, Queen Aggravain, has taken over control of the kingdom. Most importantly, in an attempt to keep Prince Dauntless single, she has decreed that only the princess that can pass her test may marry her son. Further, no one else in the kingdom may marry until Prince Dauntless does. Performance dates are July 14, 15, 16, 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, and 30. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday shows are at 3:00 p.m. The musical will take place at the Bay Area Stage Theater on 515 Broadway Street Suite H. Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum Free Family Day The Vallejo Naval and Historical Museum will host a Free Family Day on Saturday, July 15 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The Museum's Hall of History currently features an exhibit entitled "Over There/Over Here," which commemorates the 100th anniversary of World War I. Visitors can also explore the Museum's ongoing exhibits showcasing the history of Vallejo, Mare Island and the U.S. Navy, and the contributions of women in the City's history. The Pacific Coast Farmer's Market Association continues to offer Vallejo residents a great selection of local greens, fruits, veggies, ethnic varieties, as well as some specialty booths with baked goods, and handmade soaps and other goodies. At the farmer's market, shoppers can enjoy live music, prepared food, fresh cut flowers, and freshly caught seafood. The farmer's market offers the freshest produce direct from the fields and orchards of California's family farms. Vallejo Chamber Networking For more than 100 years the Vallejo Chamber of Commerce has been a community leader in economic development, political oversight, and leadership. The networking event will include great food, micro brews, fine local wines from Vallejo and Suisun, and attendees will learn about the new Auto Technology Program at Solano Community College Vallejo Center. The event will take place at Solano Community College Vallejo Center, located at 545 Columbus Parkway on July 20 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

Vallejo Contest Pow Wow The tradition lives on with the Vallejo Pow Wow on July 22 and 23. This is a free community event and will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on Saturday and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. The event will take place at the Vallejo Waterfront. This is an opportunity for indigenous performers to give thanks to their homeland through a weekend-long ceremony of song and dance. For more information, click here.

Fifth Annual Hot Rod BBQ Join the Vallejo Yacht Club at the Fifth Annual Hot Rod BBQ on July 22 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This event will include a classic car show, a five chef BBQ rib cook off, a visit from the Vallejo Admirals, silent auction and activities from Rebuilding Together Solano County, and much more. Registration for the car show is $25 and the BBQ cook off is $12. The Hot Rod BBQ will take place at 485 Mare Island Way. For more information, click here.

Vallejo Food Truck Mania Every fourth Wednesday of the month, the City of Vallejo and SactoMoFo present Vallejo Food Truck Mania. From 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., a delicious assortment of gourmet food trucks are brought to Vallejo from all over northern California. There is live music, family friendly entertainment, and tons of fun. All Food Truck Mania events are free to the public and the only cost is the food and treats

you choose to enjoy. All trucks accept cash and credit/debit cards. Many trucks offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meal options. Poetry by the Bay

Everyone is welcome to attend this open mic event on July 27 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Bring your own poems, or relax and listen to poetry. The event has free admission and donations are accepted. The Hub is located on 350 Georgia Street. For more information, click here.

Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park This year, Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park presents Titus Andronicus. Bring lunch, some wine and a blanket or low beach chair, and enjoy an afternoon of live performance. The event will take place at 198 Skyline Drive, 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on July 29 and July 30. The event is free. Established in 2010 by Vallejo resident Dalia Vidor, Vallejo Shakespeare in the Park produces one free live Shakespearean production each summer presented in an outdoor setting. Their aim is to provide an inspiring and educational live theater experience for the audience through intensive preparation and high quality performance. They also provide professional performance opportunities to Bay Area actors through non-traditional casting. The productions reflect the community in which they are performed and help the audience connect to classical theater with exciting contemporary staging.
