VINPRO POSITION STATEMENT: STRONGER TOGETHER Vinpro is a non-profit company which represents 2 500 South African wine producers, cellars and industry stakeholders. The organisation liaises closely with Government and industry role players on issues that have an impact on the profitability and sustainability of its members and the industry as a whole. It keeps its members and the broader industry informed of industry trends and technical expertise and renders specialised services ranging from soil science to viticulture, agricultural economics and transformation and development. Vinpro support for the Stronger Together programme   

Vinpro supports the Stronger Together (S2G) initiative, what it stands for and what it seeks to assist the SA Wine and Fruit industry to achieve. To date our support has been through WIETA and as such the S2G Project Manager has received support from the wine industry through the WIETA office. As an industry body our initial discussions commenced last year 8 September 2017 with the project manager and we have since: - Joined the Local Business Steering Committee - Joined the International Business Committee - Through our communications team committed to distributing information related to the initiative received via WIETA - Offered the use of our facilities for the training workshops.

Industry champion 



The Ethical Trade Body (WIETA) has been identified as the champion for the initiative on behalf of industry. They have since: - Hosted the S2G project manager at their premises - Included the modern slavery and bonded labour indicators in their Codes of Good Practice - Ensured that all of the auditors are trained on how to identify modern slavery or bonded labour practices. Vinpro will be positioning the initiative with WIETA as the champion; therefore all branding will proudly display the WIETA logo.

Communication  

Vinpro has welcomed free training courses for producers and committed to informing its members of these sessions as part of Vinpro’s monthly communication to members. Vinpro will be attending the sessions in order to better equip ourselves on identification and more importantly on the post-workshop support. Vinpro will, through WineLand magazine, publish an article on the Stronger Together programme to increase awareness.

Further discussion   

Vinpro seeks to further engage on aspects of post-workshop support which is crucial to us as an industry to ensure sustainable change where required. We will do this through both the Local and International Steering Committees. We will continue to engage with and offer support to the project manager in projectrelated matters.
