Visiting Professorship in Canadian Studies (academic year 2017-2018) Your credentials are: •



M.A. or PhD in Canadian Literature and Culture, Political Science, or any other discipline affiliated with the North American Studies Program (Art History, Economics, Ethnology, Geography, History, Law, Linguistics, Media Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Sociology, Religious Studies) Teaching experience

We offer you: The North American Studies Program at the University of Bonn, Germany, offers a teaching position for a Visiting Professor in Canadian Studies each academic year. The appointment from October 2017 to the end of May 2018 covers the winter term and part of the summer term. The winter semester runs from mid-October through to mid-February, with a Christmas recess. The summer semester begins in midApril. The North American Studies Program expects the applicant to teach three seminars, two during the winter semester (4 hours per week, 15 weeks) and one seminar during the summer semester (4 hours per week, in about 7 weeks, or taught en bloc), as well as to participate in the projects of the GermanCanadian Centre and the North American Studies Program. The monthly salary amounts to approximately € 1.800,00, after taxes and insurance. The salary is also paid during recess in February and March. Tax deductions (approx. € 250,00/month) will be refunded. Pre-departure preparations include the acquisition of a Work Visa from a German Consulate in Canada, which will require a valid Canadian passport as well as a Police Clearance Certificate from the RCMP. The University of Bonn will require photocopies of the applicant’s university degrees, high school diploma, and birth certificate.
