December 2015 Boilermakers, Season’s greetings! I hope each of you is enjoying some well deserved time off with your families and are getting pumped to follow our upcoming season. Since the last newsletter its has been great to see our Alumni responding to the Alumni Challenge and joining Varsity P. This sends a strong message of support for our program. Make sure to read up on our newest Boilermakers and take a look at our upcoming schedule. Remember if you cannot make it to the Schwartz Tennis Center this Spring—make sure to watch us on the BTN Plus on BTN2Go. Boilermaker Men’s Tennis

Consistent with our program goals we have yet again scheduled very aggressively this season. There is a good balance of teams from the Midwest and around the nation which should prepare us well for the B10 competition. Fifteen out of the 26 scheduled matches will be played at home this year and for the first time 5 of them will be carried on BTN Plus on BTN2Go. Eleven of the teams on our schedule appeared in the last season final ITA rankings with 6 of them being inside of the top-30. Eight teams on our current schedule appeared in the NCAA tournament last year. In addition, I expect a few of the other teams on our our schedule that are currently not ranked to climb their way into the rankings as the season progresses. The “clinch - clinch rule” will be adapted for every dual match. The rule states that after the doubles point is decided the remaining doubles match is abandoned - that is consistent with what we have played in the last few years. The change, especially for our conference regular season matches, is the clinch rule in singles where if one of the teams gets to 4 points (wins the match) the other singles matches are abandoned as well. This is something that other major conferences have implemented over the last few years in their regular season matches and that the NCAA Tournament has followed as long as I can remember. We have prepared a full schedule of exciting promotions for our fans this season. We will be giving away Purdue Men's tennis tote bags, t-shirts and car decals at our home matches. Additionally we will be hosting youth and adult tennis clinics. There is no excuse to not visit the Schwartz Tennis Center this spring.

What is your most memorable tennis memory / experience? With tennis I have of course many great memories. My most memorable moment I have was earning the junior championship title and through this I got into Nike junior tour masters in Florida. It was my first time in the USA. In the last few months I got my first ATP points. What do you plan to study at Purdue University? I´m not decided yet, but am interested in mathematics so I would like to study management or economics. Why did you pick Purdue University? To be honest I was very impressed by the communication with your assistant coach Michal Kokta. After speaking with few people that attended colleges in USA they recommended Purdue University for their strong sport and academic results. What other universities made you an offer (or showed interest in you)? I got a few offers. Some of them were: Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Wake Forest and a few others. To be honest I did not really pay attention to their offers because I had many tournaments and hadn’t decided if I wanted to go to college. When I got this offer from Purdue University it made me change my mind and I´m looking forward to becoming a student/athlete at Purdue.

What is your most memorable tennis memory / experience? My most memorable tennis experience is from a first round boys 16s national. I was down 0-6, 4-5 against the one seed. I saved 2 match points and came back to win that match and go on to the finals. What do you plan to study at Purdue Universi
