VOLUNTEER FLORIDA Position Description

Job Title Finance Director Working Hours Monday–Friday|8:00a.m.–5:00 p.m. (Hours may vary as necessary.)

Reports To Chief Operating Officer

Main Duties and Responsibilities: •   Directs all aspects of Volunteer Florida’s finance program including overseeing finance staff and implementing finance department policies and procedures. •   Provides fiscal oversight of all Commission and Foundation expenditures and funds. •   Monitors all payables and receivables. •   Reconciles accounts; prepares budgets and financial reports; produces timely financial statements; prepares for and directs audits. •   Develops spending plans and preparing budgets to effectively utilize funds from multiple funding streams with various spending periods. •   Responsible for maintaining compliance with state and federal regulations and provides training to grant recipients on these regulations. •   Directs the fiscal monitoring of sub-grantees and submission of monitoring reports. •   Oversees all state and federal fiscal reporting •   Participates in procurement activities as needed. •   Manages employee benefits including FRS retirement program. •   Ensures submission of payroll information to the payroll company for monthly payroll processing. •   Performs other duties as required.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: •   Understanding of grant management accounting principles and able to provide proactive oversite of grantee invoicing/payment process. •   Excellent leadership and time management skills with the ability to manage and supervise others concurrently on multiple projects. •   Advanced proficiency in multiple accounting software systems, preferably Abila MIP, Payment Management System, and Microsoft Office (Excel). VOLUNTEER FLORIDA Position Description •   Ability to understand budgeting principles and prepare budgets which include multiple funding streams with various spending periods. •   Extensive knowledge in bookkeeping, preferably the natural flow of accounting balances. •   Ability to perform office and bookkeeping duties independently and accurately. •   Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. •   CPA training and non-profit accounting experience is preferred for this position. •   Self-driven, demonstrates initiative and is able to multitask and adapt to changing priorities. •   Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills and ability to maintain strong relationships with external and internal partners. •   Knowledge of State of Florida funding allocations and budget process. •   Ability to understand federal OMB Circulars related to non-profit and government grants. •   Ability to travel overnight.

Education and Experience Requirements: •   A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field •   A minimum of five years of experience in the accounting and budgeting
