Volunteer Role Description About Locala Community Partnerships: We provide community NHS healthcare services to the people of Kirklees and beyond. About Baby Bistros and Baby Cafes: Locala Baby Bistros are support groups run by trained volunteer mums who use their breastfeeding experience to support mums to breastfeed their babies. Our peer supporers are trained to support mums experiencing simple breastfeeding problems. The Bistros also provide mums with the opportunity to get together in an informal environment to socialise and support each other in all aspects of feeding their babies, whether this be breast, bottle or mixed. The Baby Cafés offers specialist support to breastfeeding mums experiencing persistent and complex breastfeeding problems. Support is provided by experienced and trained health professionals including lactation consultants, midwives, health visitors and community nursery nurses. The Baby Café also provides support with all aspects of breastfeeding and its impact on daily life and the opportunity to chat to other mums and breastfeeding peer supporters.

Meet and greet parents and children arriving at Baby Bistro/Café sessions Assist with completion of registration forms (at Baby Café only) Set up and clear away play equipment, health promotional boards and stands, including posters and leaflets, before and after each session Offer and serve refreshments to parents (if applicable) Provide support to children that belong to either the breastfeeding peer supporters or to parents having support Confident in approaching parents Confident looking after small children A good listener Willing to embrace new learning opportunities

16 years and over (no upper age limit) Unable to administer any form of treatment and/or care to patients under any circumstances 2 hour induction, which will include some training Various eLearning modules (see ‘Additional Useful Information’) 4 – 6 weeks after start date Mileage (43p per mile), Public Transport T-shirt & ID badge must be worn (provided)

Additional Useful Information: All our volunteers are required to complete the following eLearning modules during the first 6 weeks of volunteering: o Safeguarding Adults o Safeguarding Children o Fire Safety Awareness o Health & Safety Awareness o Infection Control o Dementia Awareness o PREVENT Locala will arrange for IT access to complete these. Induction sessions will be held on an ad-hoc basis – dates will be discussed at informal interview. Baby Bistros and Cafes run at various times within the sessions detailed in this document. More detailed information on vacancies available, and specific locations, will be given at the point of informal interview.
