TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: Statewide travel - up to 10 days per month The Vice President, Leadership Development (VPLD) is a newly-created position with responsibility for conceptualizing and delivering effective leadership development services in pursuit of GLISI’s mission. This is a tremendous opportunity for a skilled thought leader with ability to craft, articulate, and implement new ideas about leader development innovations that transform mindsets and leader practice. The ideal candidate is a seasoned professional with 10 or more years’ experience leading a high-performing organization; a disposition toward innovation; deep knowledge of adult learning theory, leadership development, and school improvement; skills to lead continuous improvement with internal learning communities; and a successful track record of designing and delivering research-based transformative adult learning experiences at large scale. This is a critical senior leader role in the organization, reporting to the Executive Director and serving as part of the executive team. Purpose: GLISI is at an inflection point in its history, embarking on a multi-phase strategic plan intended to scale the organization, increase visibility, and optimize impact, particularly in schools serving the state’s most vulnerable students. Successful execution of the plan will necessitate an explicit focus on enhancing and reconceptualizing programming. The VPLD will lead the team of internal staff charged with defining service models and applying disciplined processes for monitoring impact. This team will work in concert with a cadre of contractors to deliver high-quality leadership development experiences consistent with GLISI’s vision, mission, and values.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Oversee design and delivery of all GLISI programs and services: • Refine GLISI playbook by defining core theories of action that drive execution of all services • Identify promising product and service add-ons or innovations, leading a disciplined product development process to test and refine impactful services • Develop and utilize professional lexicon that guides monitoring and performance of GLISI’s services, essential levers, and impact • Lead a transparent internal continuous improvement process that “walks the talk” of improvement science • Provide coaching or facilitation of adult learning, as needed Organize and support staff and contractors optimally to deliver transformative leadership development services with fidelity to design: • Act as an internal and external partnership builder, leveraging individual strengths to achieve organizational/ shared objectives in pursuit of GLISI’s mission • Support staff and contractor growth to continuously improve practice of leadership development • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential candidates to serve as GLISI contractors GEORGIA LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE FOR SCHOOL IMPROVEMENT MARCH 2018

Serve as an external ambassador for GLISI’s services: • Deepen existing and foster new relationships with school district leaders, strategic allies, and thought leaders in the field of education leadership • Serve on ad hoc seasonal business development team 2-3 times annually to liaise with district leaders to connect districts in need with appropriate GLISI services Act as an internal ambassador to full GLISI team about emergent lessons and promising innovations: • Collaborate with research and evaluation staff on development of evaluation plans, utilizing data/findings to communicate about program effectiveness and impact • Collaborate with communications staff around all external messaging, promoting success stories from GLISI’s work in the field

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE • Successful experience as a school principal or central office leader in a high-performing setting • Portfolio of successful leadership development designs executed with clear measures of impact that led to sustained leader behavior change and shift in school culture or practice • Strength in utilizing technology for adult learning and interpersonal communications • Strong mastery of school improvement process at school and district levels • Deep insight around organizational psychology and leadership • Familiarity with GLISI’s suite of services • Adept team building, project planning, and management skills • Keen ability to distill and diagnose challenges among leaders and schools based on observations and interviews
