the most! When a soldier returns from combat, it can often be very difficult to readjust to society and everyday life. The training and traumas that they experience are life-changing, and require an approach that will make them feel comfortable with receiving help.

MAKEOVER
When partnered with a horse, there is a certain barrier that is removed between the client and instructor. The horse is a facilitator for the experience that takes place during the session. Vinceremos is introducing a sponsored program for veterans who have served our country. The program is offered thanks to support from our donors. Returning to civilian life and adjusting to day-to-day routines can be challenging. This six week program partners veterans with horses to recognize patterns and barriers, build on their personal strengths and it empowers them to take life changing action. The sessions focus on building relationships with the horses, breaking down the feelings of estrangement and detachment. “I would encourage others who are having readjustment issues to try this program” says Cleatis, a Vietnam Veteran. He admitted that asking for help was the biggest hurdle, “this is a hands-on approach to getting our lives back.” Taking the reins of a horse symbolizes reclaiming the power to overcome, hence taking control of your own life and guiding it in a clear, focused, positive direction. To win would mean that freedom reigns!
