Dear Citizens of Waltham, In the coming weeks, it is my hope and expectation that the School Building Committee will be prepared to make a single recommendation for a new or renovated school at their November 14 meeting. This recommendation will then move to the School Committee and to the City Council for consideration as appropriate. As we move into the final stages of this process, I want to be sure that all citizens have been provided an opportunity to read the education plan for a new or renovated high school. The most important question the School Building Committee will consider, “What option best delivers the education plan to the children and families of Waltham?” Given the importance of the education plan, I ask all members of the community to review and reflect on the proposed education plan for a new or renovated Waltham High School, which you can find here: https://goo.gl/G9CguR. The School Building Committee will review the pros and cons of the three sites under consideration and most importantly discuss the degree to which each option meets the education plan: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B1RKdQk5zXW0dVVmM0J4OWpZVXM/view Mayor Jeannette A. McCarthy, members of the Waltham School Committee and Waltham School Building Committee remain committed to a transparent process that allows for high levels of engagement and two-way dialogue. In that spirit, on behalf of the Waltham School Building Committee I share a number of opportunities for the Waltham community to engage on this important topic: DATE October 24th
