Wasaga Beach water system gets 100 percent rating Wasaga Beach – The Town of Wasaga is pleased to report that the municipality’s drinking water system has received a rating of 100 percent from the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) with no issues of non-compliance or Provincial Officer’s orders to comply. “Safe drinking water is imperative in our town and I’m happy to report our system received the best possible rating from the ministry. Residents can be assured that when they drink Wasaga Beach water it’s completely safe,” Mayor Brian Smith said. “I want to thank Public Works and the Ontario Clean Water Agency for their efforts looking after the municipal water supply and distribution systems.” In Ontario, every drinking water system is subject to the legislative requirements and regulations of the Safe Drinking Water Act. Each year, the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change (MOECC) undertakes an inspection of Drinking Water Systems to confirm compliance with MOECC legislation as well as conformance with Ministry drinking water related policies. Inspections are focused on the source, treatment and distribution components, as well as water system management practices, including: emergency planning, operator certifications and operational procedures. It is important to note that Ontario Clean Water Agency staff act as the operating authority for various treatment facilities.
