Watson’s Student of the Month for September! Congratulations to Laila Seery for being picked as Student of the Month for September! Laila had her named pulled after earning numerous tickets for being Ready to Learn while at school. Laila is currently a third grader in Mrs. Meeks room. In addition to being a positive role model for others at school, Laila has many interests outside of school. Laila collects Barbie’s and enjoys swimming, garage sales and watching movies. Her favorite subject at school is Art and her favorite book is Diary of a Wimpy Kid. When Laila grows up she wants to become a dentist.

Picture Retake Day

Coming Soon… Volunteers will be needed! Watson Elementary needs your help in providing intervention to students identified with having reading deficits. For the seventh year in a row, Watson will be using Project MORE as a way to increase fluency and

comprehension for these students. Volunteers are needed to help work with these students. You can volunteer for a half an hour to an hour for one or more days a week. If you are interested please contact Mrs. Carona either at the school by calling 330.832.8100 or by emailing her directly at [email protected].

Mrs. Moore or I will visit all first grade classrooms to present the DVD, “Be Safe." In this animated DVD, two raccoons teach students how to protect themselves from strangers and how to recognize the tricks strangers use.

Birthday Board

Watson U.N.I.T.E. would like to thank all of the volunteers who helped pass out popsicles on the playground, assisted during kindergarten lunches, worked the Market Day pickup, and to everyone who has volunteered to chair events this school year. Your help and dedication to the kids is appreciated! We also want to thank all of the students and parents for your fundraising efforts!

Birthday Board Volunteers Still needed: We are still in need of persons willing to create the birthday board for: March -? April-? Email [email protected] Marcia.Pennington. @perrylocal.org

Holiday Program Third and Fourth Grade students will be performing this year’s Holiday Program at Watson. The performance date is set for Dec. 17th, with the Grandparent performance at 1:30 and the Family performance at 7:00. Look for more information from Mrs. Cannon as we get closer.

Mrs. Cumo’s Counselor’s Corner This month, Intern, Mrs. Moore, or I will visit all Kindergarten classes to present the DVD "A Kid’s Guide to Self Protection". Students will learn the three rules for protecting themselves from strangers: 1. Say no. 2. Run away. 3. Tell a grown up. Kindergarten students will also view the DVD, “McGruff’s Drug Alert.” This DVD addresses the harmful effects of drugs and the importance of standing up to peer pressure.
