Sydney–Corporate M&A and Private Equity lawyers 2–6 years In this team you will work directly with all of our corporate partners across public and private M&A, private equity and ECM transactions. You will get exposure to possibly the broadest range of top quality transactions in the Australian market which will strengthen your skills as a transactional lawyer. The direct mentoring you will receive from our partners and senior lawyers will equip you well to be a trusted advisor to our global clients and in the longer term, a future mentor to more junior lawyers. We offer the very best in formal training programmes that our London office has developed over many decades of training the best. You will have a chance to work on Asia Pac regional deals and the opportunity to transfer to one of our international offices down the track if this is something you want to do. Sydney–Banking & Finance 1–3 years Allen & Overy is universally known as a firm which is a leader in banking & finance transactions. In London and around the world we are known, even amongst the other magic circle firms, as a firm which leads the way in cutting edge finance transactions. Our Sydney office is no exception. As a lawyer in our finance team you will work a wide range of transactions which include project finance, leveraged and acquisition finance, corporate lending and restructuring. You will be trained by leaders in the field and supported by the global training and development programmes that we have pioneered. In this team we work regionally so your access to cross border deals starts from day one. But for those who one day want to experience life in one of our other 45 offices around the world, this is your ticket.
Sydney–Litigation & Dispute Resolution 2–5 years More than 50% of the firm’s matters involve more than three jurisdictions and more than 70% of the firm’s matters involve more than two jurisdictions. This is only one factor that differentiates this team. The quality of our lawyers at all levels is another. This is an opportunity for you to work closely with two partners and senior lawyers in the group from whom you will receive excellent mentoring and who will, in due course assist you to build on your success and aid your promotion to becoming a senior associate. There is a career path mapped out for the successful candidate based on merit, and where there is no glass ceiling. We are looking for a lawyer who wants to be based in Sydney but have the opportunity to work regionally. The work will involve complex and high value commercial litigation for blue chip corporations and banks, cross border regulatory maters and some white collar crime, anti-bribery and anti corruption matters, in Australia and beyond.
