Welcome to our summer newsletter It hardly seems a few weeks since our editorial team were writing their book reviews for our spring newsletter.  Here we are, more than halfway through the year already and planning ahead for autumn, when we’ll be working on some exciting new publishing projects. To meet the demands of our expanding portfolio of work, we’ve welcomed two new members to our editorial team. Jack Bourke, our new Editorial Assistant, who moved down to Cambridge from Edinburgh and Amanda Learmonth, our new Project Editor.

Summer quote ‘Early summer days are a jubilee time for birds. In the fields, around the house, in the barn, in the woods, in the swamp – everywhere love and songs and nests and eggs.’ – E.B. White

We love books! What’s on your summer reading list? If you’re still unsure about what good reads to take on your summer holidays, here are two very enjoyable, yet totally different novels, wonderfully reviewed by our editorial team. Enjoy!

The Blade Artist, by  Irvine Welsh

The Power, by  Naomi Alderman

The Blade Artist is short and fast‐paced, employing a more linear plot than some of Welsh’s previous books. It’s also peppered with glimpses of Begbie’s childhood which gives an insight into his adolescence.

Winner of the 2017 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction, The Power is undeniably clever and thought‐provoking. A novel that explores feminism and the big impact that power has in all humanity.
