Introduction to Sports Development This Summer is once again exceptional for enthusing children about sport. The European Football Championships in France and the Olympic Games in Rio complementing a busy and exciting domestic event schedule Quintin Allen, working for Northamptonshire Sport in partnership with the Borough Council of Wellingborough is reponsible for: • • • • • • •

Organising the School Holiday Sports Coaching Programme Out of hours sports provision Sports Club Accreditation Developing School Club Links Sports funding advice and support (inclusive of facilities) Festival guidance Coach Education (inclusive of careers advice and guidance)

Many transferable life skills can be gained through participation; sport is challenging and it is also rewarding, presenting the opportunity to: • • • • •

If you have any questions please contact Quintin on: 01933 231823 or email: [email protected] Guidance for Parents / Guardians / Carers • All children involved in a sports session, should for their own health and safety be suitably attired and in hot weather have hats and protective sun cream • Please provide plenty of (non fizzy) drinks. For the courses that last a full day a packed lunch is also required. • It is important that your timekeeping is good so that the child arrives and departs without any undue disruption to the session and distress for the child. • Make sure your child is registered and that we know who is responsible for collecting them at the end of the day

CRICKET

Monday 1st - Friday 5th August

8 - 14 years 10.30am - 2.30pm £8 per day or £30 for all 5 days Wellingborough Town Cricket Club, Redwell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 5AZ

ARCHERY

Monday 8th & Tuesday 9th August 8 - 15 years 10am - 12noon £14 for 2 days Old Grammarians Sports Ground, Sywell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 6BS

Archery Summer Stars is a summer holiday course held over 2 days where you will learn how to shoot target archery. The sessions are led by Archery GB qualified coaches and you will learn how to shoot safely, score points, play archery games and most importantly have fun! All equipment will be provided for you. The Junior section of the club is for anybody from 9 years old up to 16. We have fully qualified coaches running each session to ensure child safety.   Every week we train on a 400m track normally from March through to September, depending on when it gets dark at night.

Make Waendel Leisure Centre your place to make a splash this summer

The Junior section of the club is now accepting new members.  Guest membership is FREE for the first four sessions. We do different events from sprinting to long distance and sometimes field events e.g. javelin, discus etc... We also have access to a sports hall that we can use during the winter. OLYMPIC FIGHTING ARTS Monday 15th - Thursday 18th August

5 - 13 years 10am - 12noon £24 for the 4 days Redwell Leisure Centre, Barnwell Road, Wellingborough, NN8 5LP

TABLE TENNIS

Whether you have never picked up a bat before or have played a bit at school, this holiday programme will help improve your table tennis ability and skills with a mixture of coaching and competitions.
