District Awarded Striving Readers Grant from the Ohio Department of Education For Immediate Release – The West Clermont Local Schools is proud to announce that we were one of 25 districts across the state awarded a Striving Readers Grant from the Ohio Department of Education. “Reading is the foundational skill that ultimately allows us to learn more, and through this application process, we were able to see the great work happening in Ohio’s schools,” said Paolo DeMaria, state superintendent of public instruction. “These Striving Readers grants put crucial resources directly into classrooms across the state, and we’re excited to work with awardees to improve outcomes for Ohio’s most vulnerable children.” As part of the grant, the District has been awarded $1,074,114.00 to help support our continued efforts to improve the language and literacy development of our elementary and middle school students. “We are thrilled to have been awarded this competitive grant, said Ellie Preston, Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the District. “We look forward to the impact it will have on our students, classroom teachers, specialists, families and our community. West Clermont is a great place to live, work and learn.” The grant builds on the District’s commitment to ensuring all students have the reading skills needed to be career, college, and life ready.
