WEST IS BEST FOR NEW TOURISM WEBSITE 'Where the sun sets on the sea' Four of Adelaide's metropolitan councils are helping boost the local economy by working together to increase visitors to the western region of Adelaide. Adelaidebeaches.com.au is a new tourism initiative that will help raise the appeal of Western Adelaide and the online presence of businesses within the region. An initiative of the Cities of Charles Sturt, Holdfast Bay, West Torrens and Port Adelaide Enfield, Adelaide Beaches not only shines a spotlight on the beautiful coastline along the St Vincent Gulf, but provides a one stop shop for people looking for something to do in the western part of Adelaide. "The collaboration of the Western Councils of Adelaide to deliver a co-branded website and proposition of ‘Adelaide Beaches’ is a fantastic initiative that can help continue to grow the awareness and interest of our amazing coastline” Brent Hill, Executive Director of Marketing SATC said. "Tourism provides many benefits contributing strongly to South Australia’s economy. For the Western Adelaide region, visitor economy employs around 10,000 people and supports more than 4,500 businesses. We want to ensure that this sector continues to grow so the introduction of a western region specific website is a logical step." Adelaidebeaches.com.au is one project of a larger overall plan developed by the four councils that identifies areas and issues on which the councils can collaborate to grow jobs and support local businesses.

The new website will provide a wealth of information for anyone visiting the western region of Adelaide including things to do, where to eat and stay, online bookings, events and, of course, information about the iconic beaches that make up the shoreline of Western Adelaide. "With destinations such as Brighton, Glenelg, Henley Beach, Semaphore and Grange, enjoying calm, clear water with beautiful big white sandy beaches, and some of the world’s best sunsets, Adelaide Beaches is perfectly positioned to further promote and develop the tourism offering along our long, beautiful coastline.” Brent Hill, Executive Director of Marketing SATC said Brent Hill, went on to say that in the past financial year tourism expenditure had grown in South Australia by almost $300 million so it was important to ensure that visitors could access information quickly and easily to enhance their experience. "Tourism expenditure in South Australia continues to grow, with our state experiencing a record high last financial year of $6.3 billion*” "While international expenditure leads the way, domestic and overnight expenditure are also providing an influx of funds into our economy. We attracted 6.2 million domestic overnight trips in our State last year alone."
