WHAT’S BEEN DONE The Kaufman County US 80 Corridor Study planning team has been analyzing existing conditions including, developments, traffic issues, and safety concerns along the corridor. Efforts to date include future development concepts, a market study, development of a traffic impact assessment model for the corrdior, and testing a conceptual network The plan stakeholders included: Forney, Terrell, Elmo, County Commissioners and developers.

The plan is overseen by a steering commitee of residents and leaders along the corridor. The committee has met twice and will meet again in May with developers to review future plans and discuss how these developments will affect the transportation network along the US 80 corridor.

DID YOU KNOW? 1. The population within one mile of US 80 was about 40,000 in 2010 and is expected to be over 90,000 by 2040. 2. Employment within one mile of US 80 was almost 18,000 in 2010 and is expected to be about 44,000 in 2040. 3. US 80 was the site of 1,476 accidents between 2009 and 2014, which was the highest in Kaufman County.
