Class Teachers Welcome Welcome back! We hope you enjoyed the mid-year break, and are well rested. We have another fulfilling term planned. This What’s On is a snapshot of just some of the teaching and learning activities in which your child will participate. Science Topic: Smooth Moves Health Rock and Water Protective Behaviours French – Madame Kim Shepherd The Year 4 children will continue to develop skills in listening and responding, speaking and writing. Our topics will be: Le Tour de France route, Myself and My Family, Accents, Numbers to 70, Weather and Fairy Tales. Week 9 (12-16 Speptember) will be Languages Week! The Arts (Performing Arts) – Ms Rachel Brogan Music - Year 4 will be developing their music reading and ensemble skills through class performances of a variety of percussion pieces. Dance - Students will be learning and developing simple choreography for a class dance routine. The Arts (Visual Arts) – Ms Nikki Van Rhyn Year 4 students will continue with their textile artwork, exploring the theme of a coral reef. Students have already applied paint with different layering effects and will spend the next few weeks learning and applying decorative stitches to their artwork. Religious Education - Mrs Glynis Biggar This term we continue to focus on the topic Baptism, Holy Communion and Courage.  Students will analyse the meaning of the symbols used in Baptism.  We will take an indepth look at why and how we celebrate Eucharist.  As a conclusion to this topic, students will be offered the opportunity to celebrate their First Holy Communion and thus continue to participate in the sacrament of Holy Communion within the tradition of the Anglican Church.  We will explore the meaning of courage.  We will consider everyday examples of people who have shown courage as well as Biblical examples of people who displayed courage (e.g. Saint Stephen). Physical Education - Mr Geoff Dunbar The Year 4 Physical Education programme is aimed at enhancing the fitness and skills of all students. Activities will prepare students for the Athletics Carnival to be held on Friday, 9 September at Palmer Oval.
