Registration Information: FEES AND PAYMENTS  All registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.  Payment must be made in full at time of registration and accompany registration form.  Stop by the office at the Quarterpath Recreation Center to complete the registration/waiver form and pay the required charge (cash or check made payable to Williamsburg Recreation, VISA, MasterCard or American Express).  Online registration is offered for youth basketball, volleyball and softball (during reg. period) @ www.williamsburgva.gov/rec. REFUND POLICY  Refund requests must be made prior to the first day of class or game. Any request for a refund after the first day due to illness, injury or re-location is subject to review by the Director.  All refunds will be assessed a 10% administrative charge, not to exceed $5.00.  All refund requests must be made in writing, whether in person at the Quarterpath Recreation Center or by email to [email protected]. The Quarterpath Recreation Center has 4 rooms available for rent for birthday parties, bridal and baby showers and corporate events. Walking Club Join the millions of Americans who have made walking the most popular form of exercise. This FREE program provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who want to exercise but do not want aerobics or may not be physically able to do other types of exercises. Walkers are encouraged to walk at their own pace in the comfort of the air conditioned / heated gymnasium. Walkers keep track of how many laps they walk (11 laps = 1 mile) and then record them on the sign-in sheet. The laps are then translated into miles. Quarterpath Recreation Center Classes LITTLE YOGI & ME

Little Yogi & Me helps toddlers and their parents develop a healthy lifestyle in a loving, non-competitive environment. Toddlers will experience simple yoga poses and relaxation techniques in a childfocused way. Games, songs, and stories make up the majority of the class. Parents model poses and further their own practice in a fun, interactive way that deepens the bond with their child. Bettina Lee teaches this class designed to promote balance of body, mind and breathing. Supplies needed: Yoga mat, water bottle and comfortable clothing. Blocks will be provided (if needed). 18 mo. - 4 years old. No class 07/04. Drop in: $8.50 per class.

YOUTH DANCE CLASSES Creative Movement Age: 3 - 5 This super fun class is for the tiny dancer. As an introduction to theatrical dance, with a ballet emphasis, balance and gross motor skill development will be of focus. Musicality and other basic forms of dance will be introduced as well. ADULT BALLROOM DANCE Calling all Dancers! Now’s your chance to learn how to dance with instructor Juli Pruden. Juli is eager to share her love of social dancing with you, with an emphasis on fun, technique, and partnership skills. Through her classes, you will build a strong foundation of knowledge, have the opportunity to develop muscle memory, and master leading or following. No experience necessary. Wear comfortable smooth bottom shoes. INTERMEDIATE TANGO - 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm Infuse your dancing with the passion and sharpness that characterize this dance. Add stylish new moves to your repertoire and focus on the technique that makes tango look both intimate and sharp. We will be using contact hold and progressing from bronze into silver patterns, depending on class ability. This is not a beginner class--dancers should be comfortable with the basic, corte, and promenade at a minimum. BEGINNER BALLROOM II – 5:45 pm – 6:45 pm This class is a continuation of the 6-week Beginner Ballroom class. This class will increase your poise and confidence to get out on the social dance floor, building on the basics you learned in Foxtrot, Waltz, and East Coast Swing as well as the partnership skills to make them look and feel good. Rumba will be introduced. It is also a good place to jump back into dancing if you've learned the basics but have taken a significant amount of time off from the dance floor or really want to brush up on your technique. BEGINNER BALLROOM I – 7:00 pm – 8:00 pm This class will overcome your shyness about getting out on a dance floor with the basics in Foxtrot, Waltz, and East Coast Swing as well as the partnership skills to make them look and feel good. Teen Tennis Program This program is for Middle School and High School students. You can take this program one day a week or combined to make a comprehensive tennis program for intermediate/advanced players. Students will be grouped by skill and ability level and will refine their technical and tactical skills. Appropriate for students focused on school team play or competitive tournaments.

Wednesday sessions focus on drills & instruction and Friday sessions are supervised play. Program offered at Kiwanis Park Tennis Courts and instructed by Brent Hughes’ Elite 10s Academy.

Summer Basketball League is 3-on-3 Half Court for Men A, B, Veterans (35+) and Women. Competition is a key ingredient in this league, but rules strive to make games fun and a reflection of good sportsmanship. Teams play on weeknights from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Games are played at the Quarterpath Recreation Center with referees and scorekeepers. Must be 17 years old to play. Entries by team only.

Tennis leagues are offered at the Kiwanis Park Tennis Courts for Ages 17 & over. Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles are intended for advanced players. Matches are played Sunday through Friday from 7:30 -9:30 pm.

The 1 ½ acre dog park at Waller Mill Park is an unleashed dog park with two areas for dogs to run. One fenced area is for smaller dogs weighing 30 lbs. or less, and the other fence area is for all dogs. Memberships available at the boathouse with proof of rabies vaccination and dog license.

Registration:  Pre-registration is required  Deadline - Thursday prior to event.  All personal boats must be equipped with proper navigation lights.  Payment and registration form are due at time of registration.  A Virginia fishing license is required to fish in the lake.  8 pm - 2 am launches except for September 9th which will be 7 pm - 1 am.

Join us at Waller Mill Park to learn everything you need to know to start the summer boating season safe and secure. We will cover all the basics of boating safety including selecting and using the proper PFD and other boating equipment, understanding boating laws and navigational rules, as well as covering emergency situations that might occur on the water and how to avoid putting yourself in an unsafe situation when boating. This is a free program open to boaters of all ages and is a great opportunity for new boaters to learn and experienced boaters to brush up on how we can all work together to make the waterways safer.

June 3, 2017 Waller Mill Park will be celebrating National Trails Day with two guided hikes through the park. The day will start with a discussion on hiking safety tips and the leave no trace principle. There will then be a 1 mile and 3 mile hike. This will be followed by a wrap-up discussion on the plants, insects and animals seen on the hike. Location: Waller Mill Park Time: 1pm Start

Waller Mill Park Programs Water Exploration Program

Our Water Exploration Program will give kids a hands-on opportunity to explore the reservoir and learn what makes a healthy water source, how our water sources are connected and how they impact the water sources around them. Activities will include dip netting for the invertebrates that call the reservoir their home, testing the water in various ways and discussing how all of these are interconnected. This program is great for kids aged 6 and above and will provide great reinforcement for many of the elementary and middle school environmental science SOLs. Max 20 participants. Pre-registration encouraged.

Angler Academy: Fishing 101

This class serves as an introduction to fishing and will cover all the basics skills needed to begin freshwater fishing. You will learn all about the types of fish in the area and how to be a good environmental steward when fishing. The course will also teach the basic types of fishing poles as well as the basic tackle used in freshwater fishing. It will cover how to cast and will include casting games to hone your skills. Lastly you will learn how to rig your own pole and get an opportunity to put your skills to the test by fishing off of one of our fishing piers. Kids must be ages 6 - 13 and parent supervision is required. Max 20 participants, Pre-registration encouraged. DAY

Join us at Waller Mill Park for our Beginner/Intermediate Kayak classes. These one day classes will explore the basics of flatwater kayaking, review basic water safety skills and tour the Waller Mill Reservoir. 8:00 am - 2:00 pm. $65.00/class.    

Angler Academy: Open Fish

Interested in practicing your fishing skills but not sure what to do if you have a question; then our Open Fish days are perfect for you! On open fish days park staff and volunteers will be available to assist with casting and pole rigging as well as answer your questions about fishing and provide helpful advice on how to become a better angler. Kids must be ages 6 - 13 and adult supervision is required. Fishing will be done from the two piers at Waller Mill Park and fishing poles will be available for rent at a discounted rate. DAY

Kids Fish Fest Saturday, May 20, 2017 9:30 am - 1:30 pm Get hooked on fishing during our Kids Fish Fest at Waller Mill Park. J oin us for a mor ning of fun fish activities with a little competition on the side. In addition to the tournaments there will be fish themed games, crafts, and educational demonstrations for all ages during the event.  Open to kids ages 6 - 14  Limited to 20 kids per age group.  6-8 9:30 am - 10:30 am  9 - 11 11:00 am - 12:00 pm  12 - 14 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm  Children must be accompanied by an adult  Bring your own equipment. There will be many activities for everyone to participate in. Get creative and use material that would be destined for the recycling bin or trash can to create unique pieces of art. WHO Age categories: Elementary, Middle School, High School & Adult (18+) ENTRY DATE Bring your work of art to Earth Day - Dirt Day 2017 at Waller Mill Park on Saturday, April 22, 2017 by 3:00 pm ART SPECIFICATIONS 1. Materials that would have been trash (at least 75 % of the project) or the project must convey the three R’s (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). 2. Any media will be accepted (painting, digital, photos, textiles, etc.) 3. The project must not exceed 2ft x 2ft x 3ft.
