Creative Mornings at Parsons Festival: David Kelley David Kelley’s company IDEO has helped create many icons of the digital generation, but what matters even more to him is unlocking the creative potential of people and organizations to innovate routinely. He speaks at Parsons in coordination with Creative Mornings, the breakfast lecture series for the creative community. Begun in New York in 2008, it now has branches in 71 cities on six continents. 5/16, 8:30am–10am Diane Von Furstenberg: It’s a Wrap! 40 Years of the Wrap Dress In 1974, Diane Von Furstenberg introduced a modern design classic into the American consciousness: the wrap dress. The garment defined the 1970s, and outfitted a generation of women seeking (and achieving) professional, personal and sexual independence. For its 40th anniverasary, Parsons presents a conversation between Ms. Von Furstenberg and Professor Hazel Clark of Parsons, who will discuss the ways in which American fashion design has changed since 1974, as well as the past and future of this singular look. 5/12, 6pm–7pm

Core77 is pleased to present a ‘new-old’ media production. The C77 Design Daily marks the very first time that Core77 is going into print for our coverage of the annual design events and exhibitions that take place in our hometown every May, and for four days, from May 16–19, we will be reporting, producing, designing and printing a daily newspaper, delivered to venues throughout the city every morning.

Core77’s Guide to NYCxDesign 2014 is the inaugural event guide by Core77, Inc., the online magazine and resource for design. This is by no means a comprehensive listing; rather it is intended to be a broad survey of the major events and exhibitions on view during NYCxDesign. Now in its second year, New York City’s annual celebration of design spans two weekends, from May 9–20, anchored by Frieze New York, Collective 2, BKLYN Designs, ICFF, WantedDesign, Sight Unseen OFFSITE and Industry City. Event data courtesy of NYCxDesign. Listings are accurate as of press time. Events subject to change without notice.
