Waseda University, Center for International Education Academic Staff (without tenure) Position Application Guidelines The Center for International Education at Waseda University is currently recruiting an academic staff (without tenure) position under the following conditions. 1. 2. Title upon employment

Academic Staff (without tenure) – (Professor, Associate Professor and/or Assistant Professor according to University regulations) ※ This position is funded by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Japan under the “Support of Collaborative learning with universities in the United States” project which the “Waseda University Global Leadership Program (henceforth GLP)” is a part of.

3. Period of employment

Three years starting April 1st 2012 (A 1 year extension is possible after a performance review) If the successful applicant must delay their time of employment for compelling reasons, the matter must be discussed and an employment start date delay of up to 5 months may be accepted. However, even if the date of employment is delayed due to the applicants’ choice the employment contract expiration stays as March 31st 2015.

6. Qualifications and Conditions

Applicants should have all the following qualifications: (1) Has deep understanding of GLP’s aim of “A high level education to cultivate an understanding of Eastern and Western History / Culture / Politics / Economics and Society” (2) Has high interest in cultivating global leaderships (3) Completion of a Doctor's Degree Program or equivalent higher level of research achievement (4) Has advanced communication skills and understanding in both English and Japanese

7. Duties

To operate all aspects of the “Waseda University Global Leadership Program (Henceforth GLP)”, the project adopted by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology Japan ”Support of Collaborative

learning with universities in the United States”. (1) Program planning and management of collaborative learning with GLP participating U.S. universities. (2) In charge of GLP class subjects for English and Japanese. As well, be in charge of any joint U.S. – Japan seminar offered through GLP. 11. Selection Process

Preliminary screening based on submitted documents, followed by an interview for those successful candidates.

12. Selection Date

Notification of preliminary screening results (by postal mail): February 8th (Wed.) 2012. Dates regarding secondary screening and onwards will be notified separately to those successful candidates.
