These groups and others (including quilting and other small groups) are open to new or returning participants. For more information, contact Pastor Barb, or just show up. The elders of the congregation have issued a call to prayer and fasting as we seek God's call and vision in carrying on the ministry of Manhattan Mennonite Church, moving forward in our hope for a new and more usable building to support that ministry. More information on the call has been distributed in mailboxes and is posted on the church web page. His summary will be followed by a vote on renewal of our pastors' contracts. Other business will include an update from the Building Sale & Transitioning Committee and preparation for our annual German Meal fundraiser. The Adult Sunday School class is beginning a book study on The Gospel Next Door by Marty Troyer. The Gospel Next Door unpacks the gospel through the lenses of following Jesus, making peace, and overcoming injustice. Those seeking to connect more deeply with the world that God so loved will find compelling stories and practical ideas for healing brokenness and imagining new life in this study. Books will be provided to participants and a study guide is available on-line. Class begins at 9:30 AM in the basement. Our church will again have a booth at Purple Power Play in City Park, Sept. 15-16. Volunteers are needed to represent MMC at our booth for any amount of time. A sign-up sheet is in the foyer.
