INTRODUCTION Instagram just recently passed the 600 million monthly active users mark, making it the largest social media platform after Facebook, and the 4th most downloaded app of all time!

been on the other side of the fence: He himself is an influencer who has been able to work with numerous reputable brands, such as Hard Rock Hotels and Four Season Hotels.

As a platform, Instagram is being leveraged by small businesses and enterprises for business purposes. Even people have evolved into walking-talking businesses by gathering huge fan followings, acting as influencers and cashing in on their reputation by promoting various brands.

If there’s one thing he knows, it’s that people buy from companies they trust. And the best way to get past this barrier is to amass anywhere over 10,000 followers. When a business notices that you have a large group of people who keep track of what you post to your account, that barrier is instantly removed, making way for a world of opportunities.

The best platform to reach out to the audience as quick as possible is Instagram. However, for that, we must understand why we’re choosing this platform and then, we must create a plan that gives us a direction of how to reach that goal.

Why Instagram ?

Here are just some reasons why: Instagram is about to roll out an ecommerce feature in the near future. This feature alone will make Instagram one of the largest monetizable business platforms out there. Ever since Facebook bought Instagram, they have managed to impact the level of engagement on most of the other commonly used social media platforms. As a result, the world of social media is starting to look more like a 2-horse race, one which involves Instagram and Facebook alone. Just like how it happened with Facebook pages, Instagram’s organic engagement might become harder to achieve, incentivizing people to increase their adspend. Thus, the sooner you focus on improving organic reach, the better it will turn out to be for you. Instagram ads will become a pot of gold in the next 6-12 months: That is a guarantee!

4

People on Instagram get the chance to interact and share their interests with brands, making it a more COMPLETE platform. This lets companies conduct a better analysis of what their audience likes, what they purchase, and what makes them tick, something that no other social media platform provides. Mercedes Benz is the best example of how Instagram can help businesses achieve exponential growth. They managed to increase their engagement by 500% just by implementing Instagram stories; an impressive Feat!

The Basics: Things You Need to Know to Get Started

In order to spark enough curiosity and welcome people to your account, you must use a profile picture that demands attention; in simpler terms, you want to make sure it’s the best one visitors have seen. Try to use a high resolution camera for taking the picture: Either a digital camera or an iPhone 7 camera should do the trick. If it’s a logo, make sure it is designed in a high resolution, vector image format. Accompanied by this, there should be a description that will entice the visitor to visit your account, to either follow you or click on your link. Write a description of what your company is all about, but don’t give it all away. Write just enough and in such a way they it piques their curiosity. If you do this correctly, I guarantee you more people will click on your link. However, don’t be definite about it and don’t be afraid to try new or controversial things. Great marketing is composed of constant plan A/B testing until the desired results are generated. I would suggest you take 4 weeks to try each caption and analyze your Google analytics results. Another thing you can do is use a Bitly link to track visitors coming to your website from Instagram.

Another great tip for increasing website traffic is to conduct a simple giveaway in which the user has to register by visiting your website. The size of the prize is up to you to decide; however, do note that the bigger the prize, the more people will be incentivized to enter the contest and share it. Ultimately, the #1 hack to increase website traffic is to build an audience through niche accounts. In other words, if you own a fashion e-commerce store, make a fashion-based account which sells anything and everything related to your store. Grow it just so you can build an audience that caters to whatever it is you sell. Once you have amassed a following of over 5,000-10,000 people, you can start promoting your store by arranging contests. Not only will you be able to double the amount of traffic to your website, but you will also manage to increase your sales :)

However, you may wonder how to get around this hurdle, especially when Instagram’s organic engagement levels decreasing? Ever since Facebook acquired Instagram, the algorithm changes so frequently that it has become quite a hassle to keep up with each update.

6

For instance, Instagram recently created a new algorithm which affects the way the photos on your feed appear. But no need to worry though as that’s what we’re here for! Previously, when you used to scroll down your feed, you would see pictures according to the date and time they were posted.

it is within their control to see your content. I know it’s quite some pressure to have another medium in which we can create and expose content, but there are plenty of services out there which one can get inspiration from. So many people are creating niche accounts because it focuses one category, eliminating the factor of becoming overwhelmed by the many options which one had regarding what to post.

However, this is no longer the case. Now, Instagram will show your pictures in order of relevancy, just like Facebook does. Instagram knows whose account you visit the most, and who you engage with the most. So, what does this mean? If you don’t stay relevant to your followers and constantly engage with them through irrelevant posts, you will be thrown to the bottom of every user’s feed, a place that will only bury your account into the depths of irrelevance.

A good way to overcome this problem is to always remember that content is king, and one way to take advantage of adding content is through the efficient use of Instagram stories. If you use a tool or do some research on what the peak hours of engagement are during the day, make sure you post an Instagram story during those times as well. The best part of Instagram stories is that when people open up their account, your face on top of the screen is the first thing they see. People will be less likely to unfollow you because you’re constantly on top of their feed at all times of the day. By posting in stories,

5 Pro Tips

How to Become Insta-Famous Pro Tip # 1: Post at least 5 Instagram stories a day (the more the better). Make sure one of them contains a link, such as for your articles, as now people can actually click on the links posted in Instagram stories (something you can’t do on Snapchat!) You can also cross promote for your audience from Twitter and Snapchat to tune in. The key here is to know what to post and how to keep your audience wanting to see more. My suggestion would be to add more “behind the scenes” imagery of your brand. For example, If you sell social media services, make sure to push actionable and valuable content in your stories, one that is related to your topic. Facts about social media alone just won’t cut it. To get inspired, do a bit of research on the top brands on Instagram. Take a look at their stories and think, “How could this be better?” However, don’t just copy the concept; rather, get inspired and create a better version of those stories, those that will resonate with your audience. As a side note, Instagram is killing engagement on Snapchat as their users are now flocking to Instagram. Instagram is also about to roll out full screen ads on stories. This being said, dominating this skill will not only be an asset to your brand, but a tool that will put you way ahead of your competitors by the time they realize this tool is a must. Instagram stories are the perfect tool to build this rapport. With my account (@mens.daily. style), I ran a test where I measured my impressions for 2 weeks. In the 1st week, I posted one story a day and got 9,594 Impressions for the week. During the 2nd week, I posted over 5 stories a day and got over 20,000 impressions!

A great example for this is @NASA. It is no coincidence that due to their dedication to Instagram Stories they have a following of 19.8 Million!

Pro Tip # 2: Create as much content as possible. Make sure you stay committed to this and post on a daily basis: I have seen the best results when I post 10 times a day. Yes; 10 times! Try making at least 3 of the 10 daily posts branded content with quotes. If your environment is not as active to be adding stories all the time, you can upload content instead. To upload content, you can tap on the “Add a Story” button. When the camera opens up, just swipe down on your screen and your phone’s album will show up. Select the picture and upload.

You can add deals here or promote specific items. Also, stay updated because Instagram just announced that it will be releasing clickable links in stories. Besides this, they will release Instagram Live. Instagram is here to take over all social media platforms just like it has done with Facebook. So, the earlier you build your audience, the better. When I say content I mean everything not just stories. Pro Tip #3: Go live at least 3 times a week for at least 10 minutes. You will be surprised at how many people see them. Every single one of your followers who is active and using the app while you go live is sent a notification saying you’re live. If you set a schedule for when you go live, let everyone know your schedule (Example: Every Monday at 8 AM). This will help a lot with user retention. Implementing these small strategies will not only increase your engagement, growth and retention by 10X, but will also increase your sales by the time Instagram rolls out its ecommerce platform, which will be VERY soon. Pro Tip # 4: Increase your activity by 10X by automating the engagement process. Use a service like mine (www.sociallyrich.co) to automate the process of liking pictures under the hashtags related to your industry. More exposure will mean more traffic. That is why automation is one of the essential components to increase website traffic

10

.The reason for automation is to grow your brand and audience, to make it become so big that you can’t manually reach everyone. Engaging with each one of your followers will make them your loyal fans. As a result, this will most likely increase your engagement by a significant margin. What do you do most of the times when someone likes your picture? You will most likely check out their account, and if you’re feeling generous, you might even return the

sense, such as #funny, get thousands of posts a minute, something which could send your bottom of the search list fairly quickly; thus, it probably won’t be seen by many. Meanwhile, a more niche and targeted hashtag, such as #jokeoftheday, will have far lesser posts, increasing the chances of your post being seen by most people. However, there are probably not as many people searching for this hashtag as compared to the #funny one. That’s why I suggest testing both and stick to whatever works best. Pro Tip #5: Have a monetization strategy.

favor and give a few likes to them as well. That is why automating is so effective. As for your regular content, you can post anywhere from 3-13 times a day. Believe it or not, but posting 13 times a day (one post every hour) has a huge impact, especially if you are diverse in the way you use hashtags. 13 posts a day give you enough room to use as many hashtags as you want. However, I would try to track which ones are the most effective ones. Hashtags used in a broader
